To tell you the truth I'm not to sure. Try leaving it as it is, then switch each set of channels to mono. That might make it automatically go into stereo between the front and rear. you'll have to check with a track that you know has left to right fade.
If that doesn't work then you can you can definitely use Y adapters. Using just the front RCA's from your headunit, split it up so that you have two Right channels and two left channels, then plug them in accordingly.
You will need female to (2) male adapters. (2 of them), then I think you'd leave the switch in stereo.
