Alright, I am aware that most people on this forum are anti-Audiobahn...

but I bought two 12" SoundQ series subs.

Here are the specs from their website.

What kind of Amp(s) do you recommend? I am thinking of putting them in the bed of my 2005 Tacoma. Good or bad idea?

Exile is good for the price. To purchase, you will need to contact Exile for a dealer near you or they will sell direct to you if there are none. Hit the contact us link in the cust service menu. They respond fairly quick.

You may want to do a big-3 upgrade.
Wait for some other opinions. My knowledge on audio stuff is fairly limited.

For big-3 upgrade, will run 3 wires in your engine bay.
1. Battery neg to the chasis
2. Chasis to engine
3. Alternator pos to battery pos

This link explains everything for a I4 Camry but it will be similar for your Tacoma

Not to flame/bash, but there is a reason why nobody here likes Audiobahn.

I also don't understand why you would buy Audiobahns then consider buying two big dollar amps like two JL 1000/1's

Also why in the bed? Are you going to cut a big hole in the back of the cab of a brand new truck?

If you want my honest advice, go return/sell those subs, and do some research before you buy anything.

Sorry if I come off rude, or like I'm flaming, but there really is an uncountable number of choices better than Audiobahn.

i was wondering the same thing when reading this. That kinda of startled me when you said JL for amp but you decided to chimp out on the subs. Im not gonna say you should sell the ones you got but maybe should have done a little more research with different types of subs. People will always be upset that you have audiobahn though because it screams low quality crap for a price that could easily purchase you something twice as good..

but if you are pretty set on audiobahn you might as well keep them, as for an amp, no one can really give you an accurate amp to go with. Audiobahn is one of the gay manufactures that label their equipment way higher than it acctually can go. 1000 watts rms eh? my ass.. there are a good few subs that i would even consider sending that much without damaging the sub of course. But truthfully you can probably get any lvl of watt amp, but the higher you go, the more quickly these subs will turn to crap.

just my thoughts on the issue, i would really hope you would consider new subs though if you havent already opened them. I believe if you know subs at all, you would be very disappointed in the ones you have. Your decision

What is so bad about Audiobahn? Do they break easily? I never used to use anything besides JL but they are so expensive and someone at a sound shop recommended those subs to me, but I did not buy them from him because they did not carry audiobahn.

The reason I am putting them in the bed is because I have an access cab and there is no room in my back seat. I am open to ideas of where to put them, and if you want to refer me to a different sub I would even consider that too.

Audibahn is crap. It's junk really. They sell the stuff at swap meets. The reason why a shop will rec. Audiobahn is because there is so much profit in them. They cost dirt cheap, but people are attracted to the shiney chome and stupid flames so they sell it for a good profit.

I can show you an Image Dynamics IDQ that looks plain as hell. It will sound 50 times nicer than any Audiobahn. They spent the money in the R&D instead of the chrome plating.

JL is good, but IMO a little overpriced. For the same money, you can have better equipment.

Now to the idea of putting subs in the bed, are you thinking about doing a blow through, where you cut the back wall of the cab? IMO if you're going to go through the trouble of doing that, then you can probably do something custom inside the truck to house a sub.

Are you against losing one of the back seats?
