This one is nice too

the 770 is better. Higher voltage pre-outs and longer warranty. Also goes for less on eBay sometimes..

Out've the ones you listed, the Pioneer 770 is hands-down the way to go.

But I'd take the Eclipse that touringcamry posted over the Pioneer any day.

Memory stick allows you to store a bunch of mp3's on it and play them right off the memory stick.

Pioneer has better build quality than Eclipse. Eclipse's upper line has a more adjustable eq than Pioneer's upper line, but again the build quality is better with the Pioneer.

The memory stick can be use for ESN, recording CD on to it via the deck, and saving settings from the web site to be used on the HU. It will not play MP3 off the memory stick. It will play ATRAC3 files only.

Isn't ATRAC3 a proprietary music format owned by Sony???

I'm kinda curious about how that works out....

ATRAC is the worst, its so terrible, dont even try and use it. Sony runied its line of DAPs by only using it, they had to stop that. yuk. Stick with CDs

Yeah I have a Sony MP3 portable player, but at least there's firmware that let's you use MP3s directly. ATRAC, AAC, ...anything proprietary sounds like a monkey farting.

My understanding was that in Sony's case, ATRAC3 was partly because they were worried about lawsuits from other companies suing them because their devices could play media that was obtained through other than legitimate methods, ie Kazaa. Having their own proprietary would lessen the risk.

ATRAC3 supports SMS, Serial Management System, whiel MP3 does not. SMS is meant to prevent illegally copying of copyrighted materials. For example, when you copy from a CD to a MD, SMS will prevent you from copying that track to another MD. It limits what you can copy.

Where do you work??

I work at a Best Buy and the 9855 is also the highest we carry. The 9855 is garbage though, despite it's the "best" Best Buy carries... *sigh* They need to stock the Pioneer 860/8600's (or even the 960/9600s). I'd be all over those...
