Whereabout in Chicago are you? Have you taken the dash out yet? I can meet up somewhere (not too far) and take a closer look. I'm up by O'Hare.

Cam2x I have done all of that but there are 3 harnesses that connect to the factory radio. Is that the same as what you did with the Camry? I have also been to Best Buy and Circuit City and a couple of Local stereo shops and they are all saying that they dont have wire harnesses for the 06's, But Best Buy had the mounting kit so do you think it is the same as the 05 harness?

Luc I am from Lisle so ya holla if you think you could help me out. Peace.

You didn't really answer my ?, does your Highlander have the pre-wired harnesses being stored behind the deck?

I know on most other Toyota vehicles the factory wiring actually plugs straight into the Eclipse unit. No aftermarket wiring harness was needed.

If your Highlander has those pre-wired harnesses like the ones in the picture of that camry, you can simply take those and plug them directly into the unit. It will automatically bypass the amp.

Ok I am going to rip apart the ride today again and see. Do they look like they are connected to something back there or do they just hang there?

They will look like they are connected to a bracket. If you do infact have those, then it should be a pretty simple installation.

Which Eclipse Model did you get?

Ok, Lisle, you'll have to pay for my gas then.

AFAIK, for the gasoline Highlanders, they "should" have the OEM amp bypass harness because like Camrys, the JBL is an option. Thus, any non-Limited with a typical 3-in-1 are self-amped with the typical 2-plug harness.

Since you have the hybrid, doesn't the car information work in tandem with the factory radio like in the Prius?

I could not find the harness you guyz are talk'n about so I stopped in at the best buy install shop today and the guy was on the phone with people from JBL and Toyota they don't do that seperate Harness anymore so he said to just wire your power and memory into the ignition or fuse for the radio and then run wires for the speakers that are coming out of the amp. IT IS A BEOTCH.

Thanks for the help anyway

Can you post a picture of the harnesses that run to the back of the radio?

ok some of the installers from local shops told me to wire the unit into the ignition switch, or fuse.

My question is do I wire the power wire and the memory wire to that or just the power wire and what do I do with the memory wire (from the Eclipse unit)?????

Also I got all of the wire codes to the factory jbl amp so couldn't I just use the wire for the power on the JBL factory amp to be used as that source of power???? I did try that earlier and it worked and i used a seperate ground, but the only problem i had was that the head unit was on all the time even if the car was off. The only way I could turn it off was by turning it off with the power button the the unit.

I just REALLY NEED SOME HELP I've been at this install for 2 days now and have gotten no where...

And Luc no I cant get a pic up yet my pc is all messed up rite now maybe in a day or 2 I should have a new one.

You have to tap into the ACC Turn on lead. It should be a very thin grey wire on the back of the stock headunit. If you can't find that you can resort to using the ciggarette lighter wire.

Ice, the three main connections ALL headunits need are yellow (+12V constant), red (+12 switched), and black (ground). If you are hardwiring without a harness, I'd suggest to make the connections at the steering column since those are all good, solid connections. Tapping into those 22-gauge wires like the cigarette wires is NOT a good idea because you could easily break the fuse that protects that circuit. Headunits nowadays are more powerful than ever, drawing more current, so it's best to find a source that can supply it. The wires under the steering column are all 12-gauge, so there won't be any problems with powering up or shutting down.

If you were closer, we'd have this all done.

Here's information about radio connections for the Hybrid.

Radio 12v blue/black + radio harness
Radio Ground brown - radio harness
Radio Ignition gray + radio harness
Radio Illumination green + radio harness
Factory Amp Turn-on purple + radio harness
Notes: If equipped, the amplifier is under the rear load floor.
Power Antenna orange + radio harness
LF Speaker +/- pink - purple +,- radio harness
RF Speaker +/- lt. green - blue +,- radio harness
LR Speaker +/- black - yellow +,- radio harness
RR Speaker +/- red - white +,- radio harness
