Question about JL Audio sound system

Hi. I was just wondering if this was a good deal I'm getting 3 JL Audio W6 12 inch subs in a box and a Kicker ZR120 AMP. He'll install it for me for $450 total. He told me only 40 watts run to each JL Audio W6 sub and it can hold up to 200 watts each sub. I heard the subs they sound good and they pound hard. Is $450 a good deal? Thanks a lot guys.

What??? Camrys have a lot less rattle than say a Civic.

I don't think there's any car that has no rattle unless it's a Lexus. :-?

The key is to add dampening material in your car... it's a must for any hardcore systems.

He told you 40-watts to run each 12W6??? That first generation is a DVC with each coil having 6-ohms, and each is capable of handling 300-watts with continuous power. You can use 40-watts, but most likely, the gain on the amp will be turned all the way up, and you will damage the subs since it's the distortion that will kill them. I'd rather feed them more power with the gain down than to underpower them. That old Kicker amp may be underrated as well, but still, it's not powerful enough, IMO.

the Camry is a whole lot of car. yea, it does have good dampening due to it's shape, size, and good Japenese engineering but i find especially the older cars (Gen3 is gettin up there now) you are bound to have some rattling over the years.

you should see me when i drive when my bass is pounding...

*pushing hand on dash* "is this where it's coming from?"

then at the stop light "is that my rear deck rattling?"

*holding up the ceiling material* "can you hear something?"

i'm dangerous with my cell phone already let alone listening for shakes. :P

i just need to dampen a bit more.

I don't think a ZR120 is nearly enough for 3 of those drivers... it's true Kicker's amps are underrated (all of my ZR360's output around 550WRMS each), I doubt that amp is putting out more than 220WRMS... It will work, but not well, and when the amp starts clipping......... bad things happen.

dude, for 450 bux that is a greeat deal but the amp is a bit weak. 180 watts at 2 ohm is not good for those subs...but buy it and use the zr120 on your highs and mids (rear 6x9s). and purchase a class d amp for the subs.... now i dont know what kind of funding you have but i can give u a few options.....if you want bass that will blow your hair back do an xtant 1001 amp... it is 1 ohm stable (if you wire the three subs in paralel that would give you a 1.5 ohm load...which most amps can do but not for long periods..they heat up and go into protect) that amp will put around 300 watts to each sub.. dude that would rock your world....but may make you deaf(but it is loud)...the xtant 1001 sell for around 1000 dollars...if you dont want to spend that much you could do a power series rockford fosgate 1000bd... pretty much the same thing minus the regulated power supply that xtant has but it would be loud...that amp goes for anywhere from 450~650 depend on where you purchase from... sorry for the rant but it is fun.. also make sure you run at least 4 guage power for both of those amps(b/c it would suck with anything less)

are you doing a sealed enclosure or vented(i would do sealled b/c it would give you tighter bass)

dont forget to check the air space requiements forthe subs.

what cd deck do you have or is it the stock unit

and 1 more thing do you know the word of the day is dynamat.

any thing else drop me an email
