Price doesn't matter?

Tell him to get some Apline F1 Status components, or Rainbow Reference components, those are only about 2K +

Go ask him exactly how much he wants to spend. Also keep in mind, that the speakers are only part of the puzzle for a good setup. You need to consider sound deadening, an amplifier, wiring, mdf speaker baffles, etc...

What kind of equipment does he already own?

He has a broken JL W6v1 hooked up to a RF 500W Amp. He is not going for a super setup, after the speakers he is probably going to quit. Suggest something in the range of 500~1K

Well my entire system including headunit, amps, speakers, subs, and wiring is going to cost about 1K.

Some really nice component sets are MB Quart QSD's(if he likes a very detailed metal tweet)

Focal K2P

Arc Audio ACS265

Image Dynamics Chameleons

Boston Z6, Boston Pro

JL ZR

For a good amp to run them using the passive components, I would suggest the MB Quart RA2400 at www.crutchfield.com It's 200 watts rms x 2 @ 4 ohms. and is 249 shipped.

Get a second one for a pair of Peerless XXLS 12" subs

For wiring, check out partsexpress, knukonceptz, darvex.

For deadener I rec. www.raamaudio.com
