I am trying to decide between some decently priced separates:

Peerless Definition 6 (6" woofer, 1" tweeter) $188.00
Focal 136K (5.25" woofer, 1.75" tweeter) $199.0


or some other combination of drivers. The above are convenient because the crossove is included and I can just drop them in. I am a soft dome tweeter guy so if your high freq. hearting is gone and you need a metal dome tweeter to hear anything please keep that in mind.

You have a '05 Tacoma right? You can fit a bigger mid in there. I'd use at least a 6.5" mid.

Both of those sets are good. Also check out the Alpine spx-177R, even though they are Alpine, they are basically a modified Vifa XT setup. They're in your price range.


If you are going to go active you open up the door for alot of good choices in your price range.
