USA Too Boomy!?!?!?!?

I have a 2003 camry with stock speakers and head unit. I recently added a 4 channel amp and a 12" sub. I want to upgrade the front doors so I can add them to the front channels of the amp I am running the sub off of. I beleieve this will give me a more balanced sound. The doors will get 60 watts (rms) per channel. I want to spend $150 with installation. Any suggestions?

you can get a set of cdt cl-61 2 ways off of www.thezeb.com. which imho is probably as good as you will get w/o going to ebay. btw, they are authorized to sell cdt. hope you like em if you decide to buy.

Thanks for the quick responses. I can get speakers installed at CC or BB for $35. Thats seems cheap compared the time I would have to invest not to mention the possibility of breaking a retaining clip or some other "rookie mistake". The componet set recommended seems reasonably priced but wouldn't I need a custom baffle to fit a 6 in the doors? and where do you suggest i mount the tweeter? In the dash location or in the door baffles with the mids? It seems a 6x9 would be simpler. Maybe I disconnect the tweeter from it like one guy suggested. Then replace dash later?

I'd reccommend doing the install yourself. Its really easy. Just under a year ago I was a car audio noob, w/ no experience, and since then, I've installed everything on my (except the HU) and have been extremely satisfied with the work. Put the $35 towards materials and speakers or amp.

Ok, what works?

Ok, maybe I'll attempt the install. If something goes wrong I can always pay the $35 then. I still need someone to recommend a 6x9 for the doors. I would like something with good mid bass so low freqs don't seem so localized(in the trunk). A 2-way? a 3-way? I would like to stay around $120

Glad to hear you're gonna take the plunge.
Not sure how the '03 speaker set-up is, but if you want 6x9's, within the $120 range, i hear good things about these. I have these and I think they're fantastic! But be sure and go out and listen to stuff that suits your tastes.

They only tough part about my install was probably running the wire from the door to the interior, guiding it through the grommet thing, frustrated me to no end. Other than that, I just dropped mine in and hooked 'em up. Work like a charm too. Maybe a baffle or something depending on fitment issues. And if you plan on adding onto your system, I'd look into sound deadening. Hell, even if you're not adding more to your system, sound deadening is still great, and it makes for a smoother, quieter ride. Just a thought though.

I've got 6x9's in the rear, and they are NOT amped. Actually, I was completely without my frontstage for a while, and relying solely on the rears and they were still pretty impressive by themselves.

I also have the same model, on 6.5"s in my doors (no comps yet ) and they are great as well. I have them amped with 75 Watts going to them from a PPI2.300. Overall, I am VERY VERY pleased with these speakers. I had an older model a few years back, and those are what guided my decision to get these.
