Toyota Highlander JBL amp removal help!

I'm trying to install an after market unit on my highlander. Can someone tell me where the external JBL amp is located in the highlander? What needs to be removed? I removed the glove box and didn't see it. There is a small black box by the shock sensor but I don't think that is the amp. So, I was not able to find it . Thanks a lot!

If you pull out your stereo and there is two white plugs back there, not hooked up to your stereo, those plugs will bypass the JBL amp and you won't have to worry about removing it. The two plugs have 13 and 6 pins on them IIRC

If you have a stereo with an external amp, your stereo should have one white plug in the back with about 20 pins on it.

touringcamry,

Yes, my Highlander only has one 20 pin connector going to the radio. I have the external amp, I just need to find it so that I can bypass it. Any help with bypassing the external amp would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I found the amp behind the back seat. Now, if I want to bypass the amp, which connector do I need to use? The 14 pin or the 16 pin connector for my speakers?

Is there two white unused plugs behind the HU?
They should look like they will mate with these two connectors. This shot is from the back of my stock HU w/out JBL amp. If you have these two connectors behind your HU, it will bypass the JBL amp for your and you won't have to mess with taking out the JBL amp.
