Talking Got more toys in the mail today

I got the Xetec amp(It's soooooooooooo sweet) and I got my baffles from Marv

So right now, this is what I got sitting in my closet.

Eclipse CD8053

Scosche dashkit Grey, and American Int'l kit(black) We'll see which one I like better.

Xetec 4G600 (110 watts rms x 4)

MB Quart QTC25 tweeters (same as QSD tweeter)

Phaze Audio Tubedriver 6.5" Mids

Marv Baffles for mids in FRONT doors

I have some old RCA's I'll use temporarily until I can make my own Canare Quad Star cabled RCA's. I need to order some Raammat for the doors, and Second Skin Sludge for the door panels. But I'm going to install this stuff without it, because I think I've waited long enough

Why must I have to work tonight?

Where do you work??

What size speakers did you get for your front doors? How much did you pay for your 8053? That's the HU I'm looking at getting, trying to talk my girl into buying it for me, but she isn't too fond of the idea right now. Maybe she'll warm up to it

I'm a pimp, I work da hoes at night.

The front mids are 6.5" and 2.5" Mounting depth. No problem at all for fitting in the doors of an 05 Tacoma. You can fit an 8" Midbass, with a mounting depth of over 3.5" if you have the right baffle. But that will require going 3 way, or using a large faced tweeter that will play down to 1500hz.

My 8053 needed servicing for an eject problem. So I bought it dirt cheap, 100 bucks But it's fixed now.

Here's a deal on a like new CD8053. I bought mine from him(his old one) and he's a good seller.

http://www.elitecaraudio.com/forums/...hreadid=119734

260 shipped- help him out, he's a good guy.

The back speakers are stock 6.5 and the front are stock 6x9, correct? Where did you buy your baffles from and how much for? Also, for the HU do you reccomend AI or Schosche's fitting kit?

Correct, the front's are 6x9's and the rears are 6.5" Soon the rears will just be an empty hole.

You can get the adapter from Marv. Here's some pics of the adapter in my friends '05 4x4 Access Cab using DLS Iridium 6.5" mids.

His contact info is at the bottom of this thread in his signature.

I think he sells the two front baffles for about 45 bucks(parts and labor )

You like 6.5's better than 6x9's? Quick question:

I have Kicker Coax's (6.5 and 6x9). I am having a custom box built. Should I buy some midbass components and have the guy build a section of the box for them, or replace my kicker speakers? PS, I wish you were somewhere near Miami so I could bother you nonstop about my audio shit. It seems damn near impossible to find knowledgeable Audiophiles around here, all of them just seem interesed in making a dollar

Yes I prefer round speakers to Ovals. Ever see any Oval subs? (serious subs)

About sticking speakers into the Sub enclosure, that'd be a big no. The only place for mids/tweets is up front.

I'd sell your Kicker speakers on ebay or wherever you can, then get a decent set of components for your front doors.

Never seen any oval subs, why? Why is sticking speakers in the box a big no? Reccomend some cheap components to hook up to my JL 300/4?

Because Round sounds better

If you get the CD8053, You can go with Phaze Audio Tubedriver mids, then LPG 25NFA tweeters. That setup will cost you about 160 bux and will be better than alot of component systems that cost alot more than that.

If you're not too comfortable with wiring active(or learning how to) then I'd demo the JL XR and the Alpine Type-X components. Both are about 200 shipped online.

Where could I learn how to wire active? would a shop know how to do it?

Oh, and, when you get your fitting kits hooked up, tell me which you like better

www.elitecaraudio.com forums. Do a search or simply post in the General Discussion section.

It depends on the shop and who does your wiring. The idea of wiring active isn't difficult at all -- it's tuning that turns noobies away from it.

Instead of asking us whether a shop knows how to do it (seeing how none of us work at a shop), why don't you swing by your local car audio venue (not Best Buy) and find out for yourself?

I kind of explained it in this post.

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t97220.html

Do a search with my screenname and the keyword "active" I think there's a few other posts where I break it down.

I'll let you know how the dashkit's work out.

hehe, I've been slowly buying and selling things for a profit. (for the most part)

My system is pretty much free now

Ebay and car audio forum classifieds sections are your friends, use them wisely.

Good Idea, but I get really busy every day and the audio shops around here close before I can get to them. Saturdays are about the only days I can get to them, so I figured asking might be a little easier. Just out of curiosity, where do you guys work?
