POLL: Ported or Sealed?

I figured all you techies have a preference. I just wanted to know which one you liked better and why. I usually have an amp strong enough for the sub I buy, so I go sealed and avoid the risk of blowing the sub.

^Bandpass enclosures sound like farts and they aren't small. If you need space, sealed is the way to go.

You can make a ported enclosure sound good, but you need to have it built for that goal in mind.

I voted sealed.

A properly built bandbass box (not the shit you see at a Best Buy/Circuit City/etc.) is just as big, if not larger, than a well-built ported box and Robert's right -- they sound like complete ass.

Pros: High power handling within the operating frequencies and very high output within that range

Cons: Low power handling beyond the tuning frequency... poor transient response... poor low frequency extension

I vote sealed.

I vote sealed, since they are easy to build, and I have only built sealed ones.

Very good point. Some subs are made to be in ported enclosures, while other's are designed for sealed.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say.....Infinite Baffle!!!
