22RE: cold start screech/squeal

I read the Avalon squeel post, I got it too!
======================================

'85 Celica GT, 297K miles, all stock:

1. At weather temps below 45 degrees, engine starts normally, but has a
high-pitched, screech/squeal noise. With the hood raised, the sound
"seems" to be in the area near the fuel injection rail (?). If the gas
pedal is quickly "stomped" and released, the noise stops. When the
weather is warmer, no noise at start-up.
2. Clue (?): When cold, the throttle pedal cable won't move freely, it
"sticks," needs to be stepped-on to operate smoothly.
3. Clue (?): When engine is cold, the engine RPMs will drop, almost
stalling-out, when the brake pedal is pressed. But, engine operates fine
when warmed-up. Plugs, wires, dist. cap & rotor are new. Any ideas?
Thanks, da
