well to answer some of the questions that have come up.
the permanent marker was not on the truck before it was stolen, so the thief had to have done it.
the police found the truck on some side street just sitting there. atleast thats what they told me.
the worst things about gettin that truck stolen is that i had almost all my tools in the back, i had just gotten the thing back together the night before it was stolen. so i wanted to keep my tools just incase something happened on the road. plus, i had about $350 into the brakes that i had JUST FINISHED! it would have been very nice to drive the truck for a couple days, take the tools out, then they can take it. but come on, the day i get it back on the road.... thats just mean!!

fortunately i only had that truck for about a month and it was in the garage most of that time. so there wasnt many chances for me to really get attached. now my old '90..... i definitely would have cried if that thing got stolen!!

props to you for keeping such a cool attitude about it all. the whole thing just sucks. were your tools covered by any sort of insurance? you might check with your auto insurance to see if they would cover any of the loss.
for the future, state farm offers a great Personal Articles Insurance. (no i'm not an agent or employee of theirs, it's just a good policy) http://www.statefarm.com/insurance/other/personal.asp
it's great for anything that's portable or goes with you that wouldn't be covered by renter's or homeowner's insurance. i don't remember if they insure tools, but i would think they do. it might be worth checking into.
anyway, sorry to hear about your loss, but glad you got a new truck so quickly.
