Hey guys, too top off the huge rain storm we had today my car got broken into. They smashed in my passenger side window and ripped out my Pioneer 5700 DVD/CD player and stole all my cds. If anyone see's one for sale in the local area let me know. Also they stole the whole unit that the radio mounts into and the pocket underneath and cut up my wiring. errrrrr damn thieves
This suxsit rained all day into my car, now i gotta wait on insurance to see what happens,
def keep an eye out see if it pops up.. kinda scared too cuz i have an eclipse in dash dvd unit. it looks quite stock though, and on top of that, 20% tint, so i should be ok. *knocks on wood*.. what part of LI are you?
update got a new window yesterday, and on monday an adjuster will be coming down to look at the car and go over the radio and wiring etc, waiting on tint but that will be covered also
I would not put the for sale sign on the car because I think it makes it more likely that the car will be targeted.
Unless you told the insurance company before hand you had some type of system in there, they probably won't give you much for the DVD player and just pay you for a standard stereo. Coverage for personal items in the vehicle may have limited coverage and perhaps below your deductible. The window will probably be covered, but remember you still have a deductible.
Police may take a report but may not do much else. You may need to file a police report to claim your insurance.
