Disconnecting the battery for a year won't clear the light.
If the ABS light is on. There is a problem. Like you found out. Left rear wheel speed sensor.
What kind of suspension work did you do ?? Struts ??
If you did. Did you take the 10mm bolt that holds the abs wire to the body ? I you didn't and you somehow lowered the suspension and might have stretched the abs wire .
One way to check is get access to the connector in the back seat bolsters and ohm them out. If it's "OPEN" then it's not reading anything.
