Well it feels kinda like any other sub compact. I came from driving a 1990 Eclipse GSX for 4 years, so I had alot more power, but I think power is not what the Scion is about. However it does have enough power to get by. Passing up cars is a breeze, I think it's the light weight of the car. Interior(once I get some shots up) is so so, nothing spectacular. I don't have a radio yet. Radio, mats, rims are all getting done at once.
The car sits fairly high, almost as high as my Rav4. I'm still adjusting to the height and the automatic transmission. My eclipse was low and a 5spd. Somehow I just can't get into the perfect feel of rolling, I either have to brake or accelerate. So used to the neutral of a 5 spd rolling, then put it in gear to accelerate. Maybe with time, I can a work on this.
The styling is alot better over the xA. I like the chop top look of the windows. Nautical blue, this color suits well with my taste. I would really have liked to have the TRD suspension with the rims, but money wise, it just wasn't in the budget. I won't do any suspension work for now. The car rides fairly stiff, feels to me like a WRX. I got a couple head tuners so far, doing double take.
MSRP - $16K or close to that, add the 2k rims and I also added the optional extended warranty. Now it is 7 year, 75,000K warranty. Came out to $20K.
My overall feel is, I got what I was expecting.

Cool to hear impressions from an actual owner. :-) Thanks.

Well some of you may be wondering when I'll give an update, but my post will kinda explain, why I sometimes hate buying cars from dealerships.
I called the dealership on Tuesday 8/7 and inquired about the stuff they owed me, radio, rims, mats. I spoke with someone in customer service and he stated to me, "We have the rims on order and should be in later this week. Once it's in, we'll call you to setup an appointment." So I work in a customer service role, myself and I understand that being a prick is someone who constantly calls for an update on shipped parts. I gave them the benefit of a doubt and waited for their call.
Well, I decided to call them on Thursday 8/17. I get passed around Operator, service, sales, and customer service. Finally I get a hold of a manager, turns out that no one ordered my stuff. So he states that he made sure the order was placed and they'll contact me when it does come in.
Wow, 20K for an economy car? A LOT of $$$!! I think I will wait to read more reviews & see how people like them. So far, I've read often that they are underpowered. Also, because they are brand new, dealers are not discounting them at all. after they've been around for awhile, they will be giving deals on them.
I think that the extended warranty was a waste of money...only the dealer will benefit from this. (That's why they push them so strongly). On a car as reliable as a Scion or Toyota, it isn't necessasary. You would only buy an ext. warr on a car known to be unreliable. (Why anybody would BUY a car known to be unreliable is another matter...).
I do hope you enjoy your xD...I just think that 20K could have bought you a much faster/safer/more substantial car, that's all. You may have rushed into this buying decision.
^^Scions you don't negotiate. Discounts I don't know if they do that. Its pure pricing or supposed to be. So what you see is what you get. I guess with options it adds up but that's for most cars. The xD like other Scions comes pretty equiped for its class of cars so its still a good bargin. I think with accessories and what not will push the price up.

No, they do negotiate on Scion's. (Saturn is the only no-haggle car company). Of course, if you must be the first on your block to own any particular model, you will pay list price. If you're willing to wait till they have an inventory, and a slow period (Dec-Feb) you can bet your butt they will negotiate.
It's like anything else, you always pay the most when a product is first released....later, the prices drop.

theres no negotiating on scions, employees dont even get perks...except parts/accessories. if you're looking at '07 models, some dealerships do give discounts.
hey flyin...did you get the radio, mats, etc in at least?

Okay, okay. Whatever. Still, spending 20K for an xD seems a bit much. I mean, for 20K you could buy a LOADED Honda Civic (coupe or sedan) which is also very reliable, has great resale, is more substansial than an xD, and is safer too.
The xD is cute, but 20K is a lot for a little.
For 20K, there are unquestionably better deals out there. Period.
You're right about better deals for less then 20K. I could have purchased a used 2002 F350 diesel 4x4 with 30k miles on it for 20k and that would have been a great deal.
It's all about what you're expecting to get and what you want. I'll never own a Honda. I don't care for them at all and feel 20k would be a rip off for one.
