Tires cupping/struts

I've had my scion XD for a year and a few months. I went in for an oil change and they are telling me that my struts are bad, which are causing my back tires to cup. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, would bad struts be the cause of the cupping? Would the repair/replacement be covered under the 3-year warranty that came with the car? This is only after 15,000 miles!!

Struts should be covered under warranty,

Tires are kind of a gray area as "Toyota" doesn't warranty tires but can usually help out. I'm not going to say anything there. That's up to your dealer.

exactly what HatenFate said. But what exactly is tire cupping?

uneven tire wear?

and what did they say as to why your struts are bad?
