Thinking about buying a Scion XD,...

Gonna try and keep this short and sweet.

#1: About what RPM is the motor at when driving along at 75mph?

#2: Is the Scion nav system really worth $2000?!?!? How many skip this and just go for either the regular Alpine or the Alpine nav system?

#3: No fogs lights!!! I could configure in fog lights online. does this mean the xD doesnt come with fog lights?!?!?

#4: The arm rest that can be added to the car, is it flimsy? Cheap? Worth it to add? Do I have to worry about it breaking x amount of time down the road?

#5: I want to get the 18" silver TRD wheels with the car. I love the way they look. Any reason not to get them?

#6: I live in NJ. Could I get a better price on the xD if I went out of state to say PA?!?! I know I would still have to pay NJ tax but what about the overal cost of the car? Im looking at 22000 with its current config.

#7: How does the xD compare to the Yaris? I can get the yaris loaded for about $20,000. Is it much smaller than the xD? The Yaris has fog lights too.

#8: Anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks a ton!

I can't remember so I'm not going to lie to you. Remember, Lower RPM does NOT mean better fuel economy.

I don't think so But some people love it.

for lights on the xD are not a OE option. ToyotaAP sells xD lights that are OE looking and very nice.

#4: The arm rest that can be added to the car, is it flimsy? Cheap? Worth it to add? Do I have to worry about it breaking x amount of time down the road?

It's not the most solid thing you'll ever feel but it's worth the cost.

#5: I want to get the 18" silver TRD wheels with the car. I love the way they look. Any reason not to get them?

keep your OE steel wheels for winter and run the TRD's in the summer.

depends on the dealer but probably not enough to make a difference in the drive. never hurts to look. See if you can get a TRAC vehicle. miles=Discount.

You get more standard on an xD but you can deal in price on a yaris. Toyota's aren't restriced by pure price.

#8: Anything else I should be aware of?

not really. XDs are nice for the money.

He pretty much answered it for you...$22k for an xD? Take a look at mine by searching my posts, I only have 38K miles on it, very clean as you will see in the pics...I will sell you mine as it sits for $16K and I'm not even in the market to sell it...

The Yaris with the 1.5L engine is IMHO under powered. I could barely keep up with grandma in a 5 yo Corolla off the line. At speed it is ok but there is no torque to get off the line. And I have the 2 door hatch back and it was a stick shift.

We picked up our xD. My wife has put on 300 k so far. She drives one hour each way to work everyday. So the engine is going to be run in under ideal conditions. I am glad we opted for the armrest and alloy wheels. I have no idea why they would produce a vehicle without armrests?

The 16" alloy wheels look awesome. I took it for a short drive last night and enjoyed it very much a solid feel to the machine, nice automatic shifting.

So far very pleased.

Almost 6000 kms on our xD and everything is running fine, no problems, the first oil change will becoming up shortly. I am planning to use "Eneos Sustina" 0 W 20 oil for the change at the dealer. It is manufactured by Nippon Oil. Has anyone heard of this product??
