This may be a stupid question but... When the new Tundra is put into 4wd either lo or hi does the center dif. lock and split power 50/50 front-rear? Or does it vary the split depending on conditions? Also, I have heard that the safety nannies can be fully switched off for wheeling. Will they kick back in if the truck senses too much of a problem or will they stay off until switched back on?
^^^ The Tundra and Tacoma both have a part time 4-wheel drive system, and yes, the front and rear are locked for a 50/50 torque split. Unfortunately, Toyota has yet to incorporate the Torsen limited-slip center differential with locking feature into the Tacoma or Tundra. Also, I would presume that if TRAC can be and is switched off, then it would stay off.
Thank you for the response. I was beginning to think that most people on this forum who have bought the Tundra were mostly interested in washing their truck and taking pretty pictures than actually using the truck. Although I think this is mostly true since so many people viewed this post and never had a reply. Maybe most of these people have "Little Man" syndrome.
I didnt reply because I dont know if the '07 system had changed (I have an '05), which apparently it hadnt. The FJ has two different systems, but the automatic trans version is the same as the trucks. "Nannies" like anti-lock and stability control brakes generally have to disconnect when a part-time 4x4 system is engaged because there is no center diff., just a locked transfer case.
Maybe it's because most of just haul shit from point A to B...and don't really know the inner workings enough to give an informed answer. Gotta go wash my truck now

When did it ever become bad to take pride in ownership? When I spend large amounts of money on anything I own, I take good care of it. Maybe it's just me...........
^^^I agree, I wash and wax mine twice a week, not everyone wheels (I only do in the winter), in fact IMO people that take thier truck off road are in the severe minority.

Maybe you have "Little Man" syndrome due to the fact you don't own one and embarrassed to take pictures of your truck actually doing work and looking good at the same time.
