Is anyone else worried about the future resale value of the 07+ Tundras?

I know it's a Toyota, and most Toyota's have great resale value. But with these rebate incenctives that are coming out, I'm a little worried that it'll pose a negative effect on the resale value. Look at the Big 3...it's been stated that the incentives that they offer are part of why the resale value isn't great (granted they sometimes issue up to $7500 in rebates).

Just wanted to see if I was the only one concerned.

At least you agree with me...incentives are bad for re-sale value. Most people dont keep their vehicles that long, myself included. Granted I have an 06 but my next truck will be new Tundra probably in a few years.

The used truck market is a different animal than used cars. The big 2.5 have terrible used car values, not trucks. Big-block truck values are down some because of gas prices. If Dodge goes out of business, that will a different story.

Were I buy every year it does not matter. Here is my thinking. In 08 when it is time to buy I will not buy untill the rebates are up there. That in its self will help you get a better price on the 08. Lets just say there are no rebates on the 08's. Well guess what that makes my 07 worth more money. As you can see it does not make a hill of beens to me if there is or isn't a rebate. It all works out in the end. I have thought this over and over and there is just not a true answer. What makes the truck bring good money next year is the condition its in and weather that year of truck was a good year. We won't go into Fords 6.0 litre diesel. If you have one of them you will most likely take the biggest hit ever.

The rebates definatly arent a good thing, but I still think the resale will be better than the big 3. As long as the quality stays better than them it will be fine. Of coarse the more units that are built, the more used ones available will also effect resale a little. We don't see many rebates on them in Canada since its so hard to get the exact one you want without either getting super lucky at a dealership or waiting a couple of months. Are lots full of these trucks in the U.S. or something?

No, they aren't, at least here. The Toyota dealerships up here and the one that my dad buys all his from have been selling them like hotcakes; there's usually only 1-4 on the lot and those are gone within 3-4 weeks. I got lucky and got the color and options I wanted

I bought my first Tundra, a 2000, in August of 1999 and paid MSRP for it. A few months later they were having sales with thousands off of sticker price. It bothered me a lot. This time I waited and got 6k off on a limited Crewmax. We were looking at SR5's, and the sale let us get a Limited instead. We are both 63 years old, and this could be our last nice touring vehicle, so good deal for us. It's always a crap shoot buying vehicles, some you win and some you lose. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t198586.html

Nice ride, they arent giving much for incentives in Canada. Youd think with how the Canadian dollar has been getting closer and closer to par with the US dollar we'd see some major price drops here, but nothing.

I usually keep vehicles at least 6 yrs. I traded a 2000 4Runner for this Tundra...I'm planning on keepin it many years. I needed the upgrade to tow a bigger boat ( the 4Runner was at the limit, maybe over) now, I can tow the Queen Mary Resale should only be a small factor with things like cars and trucks...although if I still had my 69 GTO...I'd do real well today with the resale! As for those getting the rebates nowdays...I'm jealous but I could not wait to see if they would appear...if your one who got em....Good for you!
