I know I'm averaging around 16 in town and 20 on the highway; last time I checked my buddies GMC 2500 wasn't getting nearly that good of mileage...
The GM 5.3 and 6.0 engines have AFM (Active Fuel Mgmnt..aka DoD), but it has very little impact on MPG from what I can tell so far. Also, the 6.0 and 6.2 engines have VVT, which helps much more than AFM does.

Wink

I guess you can buy the truck with the "old" school 4 speeds and be happy or you can buy the truck with the "new" school 6 speeds and be real happy. Like I said before. Jump over to the dark side. You won't be sorry.

VMax, you sure the 6.0 has VVT, I don't think it does. All I have read is the 6.2 having it. . . . .

Metric, all that matters is that your happy with your decision. For me (and may domestic truck owners), the Tundra is not any better than my current truck, so I have no reason to go to "the dark side".

IMHO, I think there in lies the problem. The Tundra needed to be unequivocally better than the Silverado, Ram or F-150 and it isn't (my opinion). It merely equals the domestic offerings, and as GM and Ford have shown (in the car market), simply meeting the competition is not enough to get people to change what they are comfortable with. . . . . .

I am 100% Positive it does. Maybe not the 6.0's in the HDs, but the L76 6.0's have it.

Check with IPT transmissions - John should be able to shine some light on these 6 speeds.

Lexus has used 6spds. for awhile - now moving to 8 spds.
