Anyone try a camper on a tundra yet?

Was looking at getting a new tundra but I own a 9'.6" Camper, has anyone fit a camper on the 2007+ tundra?

Note that the payload has not gone up compared to the old one. Gross and unladen (curb) weights went up exactly the same amount. Anything over eight feet is too much for a "half-ton" truck. Even some eight footers are too heavy at 2200lb wet. The 2007 may have bigger tires, brakes and engine, but the springs, frame, axle housings, and wheel hubs (five bolt, the old ones were six) are not up to the task.

I just realized you are talking about a "camper back" that fits into the bed. It would be a lot of weight over the rear wheels, and you'll probably have to get airbags on the rear suspension to help out. Otherwise, it would do fine with the weight.

There are a few companies that do the truck campers well. Four Wheel Pop up camper (www.fourwh.com) makes an aluminu fromat to keep the weight down. There is also Hallmark RV (www.hallmarkrv.com) that makes a light weight camper. I put a picture of a couple of four wheel campers below (The top one is a 2008 Tundra). We make the aluminum bumpers in the pictures, which is another way to keep the weight down (vs. steel) and offer more storage. More of our pictures can be seen at http://www.aluminess.com/trucks.htm.
