Lifetime Warranty

I wonder if GM/F/Toyota will "anti up" and emulate Chrysler's announcement yesterday detailing their new lifetime drive train warranty on ALL new Chrysler products including the Jeep line?

Hah, if anyone needs a lifetime drivetrain warranty its chrysler. Of course it really dosent mean a damn thing cause they'll always find a reason to not honor the warranty. Weather its neglected maintenance, abuse, not the "factory" fluid, theres always a way out for them. How many people actually maintain their vehicle 100% in accordance with the owners manual or manufacturers recomendations? Even if you do I guarantee theyll fight you when your trans goes out at 30, 60, and 100K miles. Hate to sound so synical but that just seems to be the way they handle things.

Warranty

You mean if one doesn't maintain their Chrysler in accordance with the manual (via Chrysler dealerships) then they'll refuse to pay for future warranty costs? You're probably right. They'll fight you tooth and nail I'm sure. This new PR blitz sure sounds good though. What I question is whether Chrysler will be around by then?

Take note that the "Lifetime Warranty" only covers drivetrain AND only covers THE FIRST OWNER whether the vehicle is leased or bought. So you won't get that warranty if you buy it used. The warranty also doesn't cover rental fleet vehicles. I bet they see this as a solution to thier high vehicle owner turnover rate...
