Reason why not to let your wife/girlfriend drive your truck...
My new $40,000 truck gets a pretty good ding/crease in the rear bumper, all because my wife couldn't see and didn't ask a friend that was there to help her reverse.
Will the chome seperate from the metal if I go to help get it better than it is now? I need some advice in setting it back the best I can. And no, I'm not "just going to leave it"

That sucks man. Are you going to try and "pop" it yourself? It will probabley never be the same...I wouldn't leave it either, might want to price out a new one.
My wife never even sat in the driver's seat of my 2000 in the 7.5 years I owned it, and I am quite certain she will never drive my new one either. Not because I won't let her, because she does not want to. Smart woman!! LOL
Needless to say, the dual memory power seats won't get much use in my truck. The irony is that we both drive her car and it does not have memory seats. Bummer.
I'd just bite the bullet and go buy a new one. Or, better yet, trade it in on a GMC Sierra...LOL
Yeah, so I was driving behind the wifey today...God it looks like shit! Monday on my day off I plan on taking off the bumper and carefully use a rubber mallet to see if I can only have a small dent in it instead of the huge ass distortion. My wife still doesn't see the big deal. "It's not like I woke up this morning and decided I wanted to smash in the bumper". I said no shit
Fortanutely my dad has some connections with Kokomo Auto World and he's going to see if he can "obtain" a free bumper for me. They've helped him out tremendously in the past since he buys all his cars from there...loyalty pays
If this happened to the Tacoma, I probably wouldn't have cared; I tore the hell out of it, got me through hell and back and still ran/looked great. Now I have a road queen (can't offroad a truck with a limo wheelbase!), so I have to keep her looking good!

Too bad she didn't do it to that front end....Surely couldn't have hurt there....LOL j/k.
I was able to take off the chrome bumper and hammer it out a little. I tried using a rubber mallet to no avail. I used my Estwing, and it started working. The only bad thing now is you can see the little divets, but at leas the bumper is flush with the top plastic piece now. I still need to "obtain" a replacement...it'll still drive me crazy

unfortunately my expirece with body work is that with dings like that more often its easier to replace the hole bumper - you might be able to have some luck with a rubber mallet or possibly a body shop hammer from behind but you can easily make it worse if your not careful - make small taps around the ding not directly on it and carefully work the material if you do go that route before trying to replace the bumper
BTW photo shop out your license plate number from your photos - to many idiots in the world use the internet
