Break in question

Hello everyone. I'm new to the site, and should be getting my Nautical Blue Crewmax next week. I have been reading posts on the internet about engine break-in procedures and was just wondering what the consensus is in here. Are you all with the "break it in like you're going to drive it" club or the "take it easy for the first 1000-1500 miles" mindset.

Also, I will probably get it next Wednesday and I'm going on a trip to New Orleans on Thursday(about 300 miles one way). Should I take the 4runner and let the truck stay in the driveway.

Thanks for your input, and I'll post some pics as soon as I get my hands on it. Matt

It's a controversial subject. Everyone has there preferences. Personally, I don't "tear the shit" out of it, but get on it a little and do the occasional 0-60 runs I think babying the engine too much can cause wear problems later in the engine life. But like I said, everyone has their opinions and preferences. If you have had a car with a lot of miles on it, and it didn't burn oil, I would just do what you did to that engine.

Don't use the cruisecontrol or keep it a constant speed for at least the first 1000 Km
