3.0 Quarts in Tranny??

Owners manual says capacity is 3.0 quarts to drain and refill the trans! That cant be ALL the fluid right? 5.7L DC

I would assume that might just be the fluid in the pan, not the fluid locked in the torque convertor....but still low nonetheless.

Yeah, whenever fluid is replaced, only a small amount is used. If you put 3 quarts in, there probably is still another 6 within the tranny and converter (the converter on this thing alone will probably hold 4 quarts. That's why when changing auto tranny fluid, it's almost necessary to take it someplace to get it flushed so all new fluid can be put in. That's one reason why I hate auto trannys..

It depends on which transmission you have.

For the AB60F transmission, which is the one I have. (4x4 + 5.7L engine) the capacities are as follows according to the factory service manual:

Transmission pan and drain plug removal = 2.1 liters (2.2 US qts, 1.9 Imp. qts)

Transmission valve body removal = 4.7 liters (5.0 US qts, 4.1 Imp. qts)

Torque converter removal = 5.4 liters (6.5 US qts, 5.4 Imp. qts)
