As of 11 AM Mountain Daylight today, I was unable to get a delivery date for an engine block heater for our big-block 07 CrewMax. Local (Montana) dealer says they have not yet been released. Called Toyota Cust Service 800 number and was bounced right back to the dealer parts guy. Had to tell the dealer his job duties.
An hour later, the dealer called back to say the parts supplier will release 07 engine block heaters on Oct 4. However ... the same supplier has pre-07 heaters for Toyota V-8's that "just might fit."
Good to hear, eh?
I settled on the 07 heater approved by Homeland Security and set an install date for Oct 10.
(Not too assuring, right? Does Toyota-USA have an Edsel death wish?)
It's possible it may fit, but it's a different block, so it may not. Toyota usually tried to use "universal" parts for all its vehicles, and the block heater may be the same. Its may get cold before October 4th, but I would just wait for the proper part, unless you find out its the same p/n.

I'll get the correct 07 heater, but am not real happy about Toyota's timing and delivery of the 07 Tundra, about the dashboard and door interior which somehow come off as Harold High School chintzy, and about having to do homework for a dealership the owner of which appears to be ignorant of his own parts and after-sales guys. Having grown used to good service at competent SoCal and Texas Lexus dealerships, my relationship with the local Toyota-only dealership has, since 2005, been negative. The concern on the engine block heater comes from the fact that in 2002, we had 2 weeks of -20F that hit in mid-October. No snow; just cold, cold Canuck air. Keep the Molsons, Canada. I'm drinkin' Parkbrau.
^^^ Molsons ain't nothing to cheer about, but it IS better than those cheapass Lakeport
I hear ya on Toyota dealerships and ignorant staff working in some of them. It's a hit and miss in terms of finding a good one that you can be happy about, but it's pretty tough. Nonetheless I hope you get your block heater soon.
i asked my buddies at my local dealer, and they said toyota will not have any block heaters available for the new tundras. they suggested the moroso oil pan heater instead. Installs easily and is removable when warm weather arrives apparently. good luck to you
Okay, I get an email notification every time somebody replies to a thread I've posted in (including this one). HOW DO I TURN IT OFF????????????????????????
No vehicles sold in Canada actually come from the factory with a block heater, so obviously since we deliver all vehicles with a block heater, we install them at the dealership, and yes, all Tundras we've sold have had block heaters.
2007 Tundras with the 4.7L V8 use the same block heater as the older models, the 5.7L V8 is all aluminum (as is the V6), and uses a "dry" type block heater. Canadian part number PU140-00900 (CANADIAN part number).
This is the same part number as the block heater we use for the Camry, RAV4, Tacoma, Avalon, and other vehicles. It is a pretty universal fit, I believe it can be used on the Corolla, Matrix, Echo, Yaris as well (but not 100% confirmed).
Whether or not the block heater in the USA intended for the Tacoma/4Runner/FJ Cruiser 1GR-FE can be used in USA 3UR-FE 5.7L V8's is unknown, but I just thought I'd pass this bit of information on, as it might be helpful.

Log in and go to your Control Panel. Select "Edit Options" on the left hand side, then scroll down to "Default Thread Subscription Mode". Select as you want, then save changes. You will have to manually change this subcription by going back to the main control panel screen and selecting "subcriptions" on the left hand side, then select the threads you want to change, then scroll to the bottom; there will be a "Move a folder" bar, click it and it will let you change the selected threads to the interval (if you even want one).

October 9 2007 - More jerking around regarding the 2007 big V-8 engine block heater. They should have shipped (but did not) to the local dealer on Oct 4. Called Toyota Associated Parts (Toyota parts distribution hub, 800-780-2402) when, once again, the local dealer proved clueless. The guy who answered at Toy Associated Parts was not Suba Dooba Krishna Yogananda from Bangalore, but a fairly helpful gent going by the name of Jeff.
The heaters (manufactured by PYROIL, Ltd of Canada) have shipped to Toy Associated Parts. In turn, Toy Parts has begun shipment - via some sort of allocation - to the dealers.
It has already snowed, had to put the plow blade on the ATV, and it ain't gettin' no warmer here.
If you have at 07/08 Tundra with the big V-8 and are concerned about engine block heater availability, they are in the pipeline. But have a look at all the posts related to this thread and note a recurrent theme. The dealer parts guy won't be of much help unless you beat on him. And before you beat on him, jot down the Toyota Associated Parts number (above) and be ready to use it. The dealer parts guys are clueless and show little initiative to help.
The Block Heater I installed in my 5.7L was the block heater for the 4.7L. The heater unit fit perfectly and the cord is plenty long enough to stretch to the front grill as long as you go straight up to the top of the engine and tiewrap it along the wiring harness, then through the radiator support piece and then down to one of the three small vents in the bumper, had plenty of cord left to plug into.

i would think that it would have to be at least -25C and colder to even worry about a block heater??? is it that cold up there already? we were 92F yesterday and no sign of cool weather. i mean, my 79 VW rabbit diesel didnt have to be plugged in till -15C and colder.
From what I just looked at, around where he lives it has been down to freezing. Frost on the windows is a good indication to use the heater. The heater is more for quicker/easier starts and fast heat, unless its really cold, then its to warm up the fluids so they aren't like molasses!
