Fog Lights....anyone???

Has anyone out there who was not fortunate enough to get fog lights from the factory, installed any? I don't mean bling lights either. I had a buddy install those and they have already burned out and the relay switch is fried. Are any kits available either from Toyota or any good after-market companies for the factory location?

Unfortanutely, you can only order them piece by piece through a dealer. Greg at Kalamazoo Toyota is supposedly working on a kit (like he did for the 05+ Tacoma.

I plan on paying $450 for the parts soon; when I do, youcan count on me to write a DIY w/ pics...

Yeah, I tried that. The harness in the factory location is nothing more than a clip. Also, the black plastic insert in there now is one piece. When it comes out there is a big hole on the side through the bumper. It is held in with little clips in the back. This is not as easy as it looks. The 4wd performance shop I took this too had some nice PIAA's lined up. They said no problem. 4 hours later I finally told them to step away from the truck!!

fog lamp kit solution

I'm amazed by the redundant harsh negative commentary directed at the Blinglights brand by a few individuals. The reality is that the company’s fog lamp kit is one of the most popular and viable alternatives to the factory kit around. In my less than impartial opinion as a company representative (full disclosure here), the ultra-reasonable price of the kit is worth the banishment of the ugly bumper blanks alone. Even if the fog lamps never work (which they clearly do), the properly installed fog lamps enhances the aesthetic look of the truck immensely.*
In the rare and unlikely event of a defective part or kit problem, the company honors its year-long comprehensive warranty. Until another affordable aftermarket fog lamp kit for Toyota trucks is introduced, it may be the only major solution provider for many.

Welcome to TN!

One question? Because they have that blue ring light? Wouldn't a cop cite you for them?? Are those legal?

At the flip of a switch, the fog light can be changed from the blue colored halo ring (also available in green and red), to the standard white fog light. Lighting laws vary from country to country and state to state. Before using the colored option, I would check with the local DMV or law enforcement for regulations and information. I know that in the state of NJ it is a violation to display the colored ring while driving. I suspect that this is the case in many other states as well.

Worst case scenario: You would just use the standard features of the fog lamp.

Thank you for the welcome.

Interesting, but I don't dig that...that's just me, though.

My OEM fogs and parts I ordered are due in on Friday. I'm in southern Indiana right now, but plan on doing the install Friday when I get home...hopefully I'll have the write-up and pics up by Friday night.

Yes, I can see where you are coming from. A good number of customers don't like the halo ring. The nice thing about the kit is that you can hook it up to an OEM switch, thereby making the halo function totally unavailable.

Good luck with your OEM fog light installation. I hear it is quite involved.
