HEY!! new owner, wanted to say HI!!!

HEY EVERYBODY!!! well im not OFFICIALLY part of the toyota family

my father called me this weekend and apparently he bought an 07 tundra sr5 with the 4.7l and towing package with all of 105 miles on it (oh yah and its used!! HAHAHA)...so i drove to their place to check it out...

all i have to say is WOW!!!! this is an amazing truck, everything about it just blew me away, it has so much grunt, its built like a brick shit house, and it rides nice and quiet when you want it to, but it doesnt drive like a hog...either way...

ive been working on my buddies 87 camry for a few months so ive already poked my way around these forums a bit but finally ill be working on my fathers truck now...so i wanted to say hi, because im sure ill be around asking questions...

as of right now, my father is talking about getting the low profile running board (bar) and fog lights...he wishes he could justify lowering it a couple inches (since he doesnt need the ground clearance) but hes going to hold off...he also wants to paint the wheels black possibly, and i was thinking shadowlining all his chrome, he seemed interested in black chrome...

i should also mention hes going to be hauling engines for our racecar projects and his 26 foot sailboat with it, he seems damn excited to try out the traction control and simulated limited diff (sorry dont remember the name, i just know what it does) with the boat...so if anybody has any experience with towing and little quirks the truck might have, im sure we'd appreciate the info

well thanks for reading!! if you cant tell im just really excited about this truck!!

(oh and does anyone know where to buy that thin clear rust protective coating on the bottom of the truck? we were wondering if you can get it anywhere)

Welcome to TN

As for your undercarriage protection question, I don't know of a clear rust protector for underneath...most of the things I've seen spray on like bed liner.

Welcome to TN Glad your father's enjoying the new Tundra, I'm surprised he didn't get the 5.7L lol. If he's gonna haul engine parts and such, make sure to tell him to reinforce the tailgate, since apparently that's a newly discovered weakness of the new Tundra.

well he would have gotten the 5.7L if the price was right, he got the tundra for 20k with under 200 miles on it...it was used it blew my mind...some girl bought it, it appears she carried something cuz there are scratches in the bed, and then she decided that a full size truck was too much for her, so she took it back and saved my father something like 8k...lucky him!

as for the towing, the 8000lb capacity is plenty enough for his truck, im not too worried about it...its an improvement over his dodge ram van with the 318 in it...that thing is a complete POS

He'll love it!

...Sounds like he got a really good deal getting it "used".

He'll really enjoy the truck. I have so far. I have the 4.7L also, and for me price was the major consideration. It is a really nice truck. Enjoy!!!
