Just had my Tundra 5.7L SR5 truck tail gate repaired at the dealer. It would not open. They installed a Technical Service Bulletin kit numb 2297 WT. The mech that worked on it stated that this kit fixes a weakness in the latch and link system. Sooo....in the future if you have a tailgate latch problem you may be able to get it fixed even though the truck is out of warrenty. 36000 miles rolls up pretty quick for some of us. good luck...virg
