Unsold inventory??

Rob_s raises a good point: what happens to all of the trucks that don't sell because they're optioned wrong? Anyone that works for a dealership want to shed a little light on the subject?

I'm sure they are just sold at a slightly reduced price. They don't "just go away". I bought my 01 Focus this way. It was offlease (only 20k on th clock) and it was a stick, plain hane, bu had A/C and CD. No PDL, PW, etc. They wanted 11k for it and since it had been there for a while, I talked them down (after playing hardball) to $6500. It was a great car and I still kick my own ass for getting rid of it.

Anyways, we digress. Usually, this is why Toyota only allows certian options to be with each other. I'm guessing they do "research" to see what will sell good in certian parts of the country (like a winter package with heated seats, ski bag, etc that's offered on BMW is kind of pointless if you live in AZ (unless you are up in the mountians)

Back in the day, I bought a leftover 1986 Nissan Hardbody 4x4 4cyl like this. It was really poorly-equipped - didn't even have a radio, but at the time, it was all I could afford and I needed a reliable, all-weather car to run service calls in. I suspect most poorly-optioned cars are sold at lowball prices to people who can't afford to be more selective. Nuttin' wrong with that..

That was a really good truck, BTW.. So good, I bought a loaded 1990 hardbody - another good truck!

When I was in high school my dad bought the ugliest yellow toyota corrola sw that way and got a good deal on it. I guess nobody wanted an ugly yellow straight shift minature wagon.

I wound up learning to drive in that ugly little car.......they had it for about 15 years too)

{I learned from that and bought an expensive bicycle the same way. {back in the days when an all campy bike and reynolds 531 with nervex lugs was state of the art} ......it was ugly yellow......I eventually had it painted.)
