Has anyone else had problems with the tire pressure monitoring system? Mine lit up the dash logo two days after I drove out of the dealer. Checked the tire pressure and all was to spec according to the door sticker. When I took it in for the first service, I mentioned the problem and the rep said it was probably the spare. Well...the spare doesn't have a pressure sensor as is stated in the owner manual. I even cranked down the spare and sure enough, it doesn't.
The service departments answer was to increase the tire pressure to 35lbs all around and which kept the dash warning light off for...two days. Now it's back on again and the tire pressure is still at 35lbs. I tried a system reset according to the instructions in the owners manual to no avail.

Anyone else????
If the dealer was good, they would've check to see if you truck qaulified for TSB SU005-07. Basically it calls for a TPMS ECM replacement since a small batch were defective. I'm willing to bet that this is your problem; take it to them and mention this TSB number.

Took the truck in today and after inspection, the rep said the above TSB applies only if the monitor will not reset. My problem was determined to be a bad sensor. They have them in stock, but it will take several hours to find the right one. When I pick up the truck later today, I'll update again.

Replaced bad sensor in left front wheel. Problem resolved....for now.
Were having not only a problem with the light on dash, but both passenger tires lose air. The dealership told us to increase the tire pressure but that didn't work either, and won't because they continue to lose air. We replaced the valve stems, that didn't work either. My husband is taking it back in again (3rd time). I was wondering if it could be defected wheels. Is anyone having this problem as well? They are stock wheels.
How much air do the tires lose? About a pound a month is normal. Increased air pressure is NOT the answer. It's either defective wheels (poor bead seal) or a defective sensor or sensors. Keep up the dealer pressure.
I agree with you. I think it's the wheels. He took it back in yesterday, but I haven't had a chance to ask him what resolution they came to. The service department Cowboy Toyota, Dallas) is usually good here so I am sure we will come to some agreement. The tires lose about 5-7 lbs. a day. My mother had the same problem with her wheels as well. Thanks.
I had the same problem on my 2005 SR-5 Tundra. My spare did have a sensor and when I filled it up the indicator went off. I traded to the 2008 Tundra and love this new truck.
