2007 Break in

Hi, I have seen a few posting concerning break in periods etc. What the real deal, just bought a 2007 Tundra 4x4... love the truck and want to make sure I am doing it right. I have seen postings concerning oil changes and driving patterns, can someone who owns one of these give me some good advice.
Thanks

Kent

It's a highly debated subject. I'm don't advocate abusing the vehicle, but once the truck is at operating temp, do a couple full throttle launches and do some heavy acceleration when moving as well. When I was test driving a Tundra, I monkeyed around in it to see what I could do. Then I bought it I haven't had any problems, and don't foresee any in the future...

Modern engines are so well machined and finished internally that the traditional concept of break in is obsolete. Just follow the procedures in the owners manual. While there is no such thing as special break in oil anymore, there is no reason to dump the factory fill until the normal 6mo or 5000 mile interval.

Wise words. That's what I did, and I get great gas mileage. For the first 1000 miles I did not exceed 70 mph, I did not tow, and I did no rapid take-offs or stops. I used the cruise, but I changed the speed by two or three mph every ten or fifteen minutes. I figure that the gear heads at Toyota want this vehicle to last a long time and to have no problems during it's warranty life and longer, and that's exactly the same thing us owners want.
