Aftermarket DVD / NAV / CD / ECLIPSE AVN 50D IPOD Question:
So I had the dealership install the aftermarket Eclipse AVN 50D: DVD, NAV, CD (ETC.) in my Tundra. Everything seems to work fine, but I can't seem to figure out the IPOD functions. The dealer did an awesome job of wiring my IPOD hook-up right into my center consule. When I hook up my IPOD, the IPOD itself displays the Eclipse logo, showing it's hooked up, but I can't opperate the IPOD from the head unit itself. So, I un-plugged and re-attached the IPOD again, and now it plays through my head unit, but in shuffle mode. I can't change songs or pick artist as far as I can tell. My owners manual doesn't seem to have any info on the IPOD hook-up. As well, the IPOD appears to continue in shuffle mode if while my Toyota is parked and I am out and about. Any ideas? Am I stuck with my IPOD shuffling songs through the head unit with no control? I can't seem to find much info on the Internet regarding this particular model, I wonder if it's an older unit?
I appreciate any help.
(FYI): There is NO ICON in the head units menu that shows "IPOD
I doubt you have many functions available to you. You SHOULD be able to at least go forward and backward though through the songs. But it's unlikely that you can choose albums and artists and the like. That is the bitch of proprietary stuff like ipod. For the record I am speaking from Kenwood experience. I have a Kenwwod CD player in my boat, I bought an ipod adapter (Kenwood made) and it is merely OK. I knew when I bought it though that functions were limited. If I feel like a particular album or artist, I disconnect, setup the ipod, then reconnect. But it keeps my ipod charged.

Nope, can't even skip songs using the IPOD as a control. Was able too use the stock AUX port BEFORE the installation of the new deck. This really pisses me off, I like to be in control of my playlist. I enjoy ever song that is on my IPOD for the most part, but as everyone else, I pick different songs and playlist depending on my mood. My "word for word" repeating 3 year old doesn't need to repeat some of the lyrics while I play my Rage Against the Machine tracks.
lol, I hear you! For me it was Eminem when I was in Japan with my 2 year old (at that time) son! Good luck to you though, hopefully someone will chime in who has the Eclipse.

So, I found out the scoop. I contacted Ecllipse VIA telephone and found out that a couple of switches were supposed to be flipped when the IPOD cable was installed. The IPOD should work through the SIRUS RADIO connection, and you should be able to see, select and choose different playlist. My Tundra is going back tomorrow morning, and I will update you all when I get it back.
Well, It's fixed! So the problem was a switching issue on the back of the headunit. The IPOD is ran through the SIRUS radio display, and I am able to pick through my playlist as well as fully opperate my IPOD from the ECLIPSE headunit itself. The ONLY lame thing in my opinion is that the IPOD does not shut down when the vehicle is turned off. I found this out because I happenened to have my headphones still plugged in and I heard the music.
