Need a little help please...

.First off I've been reading these forums for a while now. I was looking at getting a Tacoma until today. I went to a local dealership and saw a 08 Tundra w/6" procomp lift on 35s... beautiful.

With the rebates being like they are, getting a Tundra like I want is only a few thousand more than the Tacoma I was looking at getting (double cab long bed 4x4 w/sport package). I'm planning on getting it through my insurance company so the price is already figured out. I believe it's a few hundred above invoice, not including the rebate.

The truck is going to be a "street queen." I believe that’s the correct term. I don't plan on taking it off road much, if at all. I'm looking at getting a double cab, 4x4 with 5.7 SR5. Now I need to figure out what options I want. There's nothing I really "need." I plan on getting the 6" procomp lift with 35s. So my question has to do with the off road packages / options. Since I'm not going to take it off road, should I not get an option with an off-road package?

I'm very new to trucks and have never owned a 4x4. The procomp kit is going to be their stage I. Would I be better off not getting the off-road package with the stage I, or with it with the stage I? Or is the package worth it to get the "off-road-tuned suspension?" I guess what I'm asking is, is the off-road package a better "base" to build from?

I appreciate any help that I can get. Thanks in advance for a response.

If you're going procomp 6' w/ 35's DO NOT buy the TRD offroad package. You'll be wasting money. You'll be paying for 4 bilstein shocks, and 4 wheels (18 inch I believe), and 4 BFG Rugged Terrain tires that you'll be taking off and replacing. It may be hard to get the truck you want with steel wheels but that would be a prudent thing to do. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure you can get away with buying a 2wd, though it sounds like you can afford the 4x4 so get that. I've seen crewmaxes (not doublecabs) with 6' promcomp and 35's and they looked awesome. Another thing, the TRD package on tacoma's includes a locking rear differential and that is not the case on Tundra's so there's another reason to save buku bucks.

Thanks. I might run into a problem then. I believe I have to take a dealer stocked truck to get the rebate. When I configure the truck on toyota.com, the cheapest package includes:

Details for Option A - $1,800

- 18-in. alloy wheels with P275/65R18 tires (AA)
- 50 state emissions (FE)
- Auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink® [5] universal transceiver, compass and maplamps (EC)
- Daytime Running Lights (DRL) (RL)
- Fog lamps (LF)
- Outside mirrors-power, heated, black (HM)
- Sliding rear window with privacy glass (WR)

Is it safe to assume that most trucks will probably be a little better equipped than this package? The only thing I would liked to have had is the bluetooth... maybe with the nav. I know I could go aftermarket, but I wanted to stay clear off that. I did the whole stereo thing when I was a little younger and don't want to tear it apart.

I guess I could just forget about the rebate and build one like I want. Maybe everything listed above plus the JBL w/blue tooth. I might just have to get a truck with the off-road package?

I second this.

BTW, the only reason I went with the Tundra and not another Tacoma was the fact that Tacoma didn't have 0% financing...but at my purchasing dealership, they are offering it now on all Taco's Don't get me wrong, I love the Tundra, but I could've saved a lot of money by "transferring" my OEM modifications to the new truck...

Does the DCab 4x4 '07 Tundra with OF package come with BFG off-road tires also? My new 07 looks to have regular Michellin tires on it. The truck is a SR5 OF TRD.
