My new '08 Tundra

Time to introduce myself and my new Tundra. Yesterday I traded in my '07 Tacoma on this beautiful '08 Tundra. It's a slate metallic, double cab, SR5, 4x4 with the 5.7L motor. Here are some photos I snapped of it today:

So far, I love this thing. I'm breaking it in VERY gently, so I haven't gotten to experience the power of my new 5.7 yet, although I did test drive another one and had a little fun in it. My new baby had 5 miles on the odometer when I picked her up. She goes to the dealership tomorrow to have a couple of things programmed to my preference (single click to unlock doors, etc) and to have an alignment (I just want to be sure everything is perfect).

Very nice and sharp This is why I chose the Slate, its beautiful in the sun! I wondered when you were going to pull the trigger on the Tundra, I've seen you here and over at TS and was thinking, does he own a Tundra yet? You need to get some foglights

I spent about a week haggling it out with my dealer, and ended up with a sweet deal on this '08. It had 5 miles when I picked it up.

I originally went to the dealership wanting 3 things on my Tundra (in addition to the SR5 package), foglights being one of them. And go figure, they had this 08 that I talked them down a bunch on, but it didn't have the foglights. What's the word on aftermarket ones? I had my sales guy call the parts department to see about getting me a credit for them, but he was told that there isn't even a part number for them in the system.

There isn't a kit available yet, which is a bunch o crap. Unfortunately, you have to buy the pieces separately, and that'll run you $480 doing it yourself. There are some guys over at other boards, including TS, that have done their own aftermarket installs, but I don't care for them. Mainly because its not OEM equipment

Ouch, $480!? Damn. I guess I'll look into a couple aftermarket options, otherwise I'll wait.

Its "only" $480 Order up the parts and I'll help you when I am in KC in 2 weeks (but I won't have my truck)!

Yeah, that's Tuttle Creek. How long ago were you here? Did you go to KSU? Even in the past 5 years that I have been here I can barely believe the growth Manhattan has gone through!

I haven't even started looking for an alternative to the OEM lights. I'm sure I could find something a lot cheaper - hell, I've got two projector housings sitting in my garage. I could install them as fog lights! What are your plans while you're in KC? I'll actually be in town that weekend, too.

I'll be in KY and MO early in the week on business, then I'm coming to KCMO Thursday night, I'm going to try to get a couple clients (hospitals) in that area, then just chilling. You can at least order up the stalk and I'd install that for you. Then all you'd have to do is put any fog light in there you want and hook them up using the wires that are already there from Toyota

You mean the turn signal/headlight stalk? I figured that when I decided to do this it would be easier/cheaper to install a flip switch in one of the blanks by the VSC or RSCA button. Would you be up for doing black headlights instead?

I could help, but I've never done it! But I'm always up for helping out a fellow TN member.

I was at KSU from 95-99 and left Manhattan shortly after. My family still lives out near Lawrence but I haven't been back to Manhatten since about 2001. Hope you enjoy the truck.

I'm very interested in trying it, and having an extra set of hands would sure be nice. Do you have access to a garage and an oven in KC?
