Signed for an 08 tonight! Already got a spray-in bed liner Question
Im looking for pics of light colored tundra's with a black spray-in bed liner. I just signed for a super white 08 4x4 Dbl cab 5.7 w/8ft bed tonight and that will be my first modification to this truck. I hope this truck lasts as long as my Chevy C10 (18 years).
Im not sure if the black liner will look good with white or I should go with another color. Im going to have this truck forever so I want to do it right the first time.
Future mods are running boards and some pin stripes down the side or super wide racing stripes over the hood, roof and tail gate. Im thinking blue or silver, Any pics of this type of mods would be great to see also. Im looking at it like a blank piece of paper ready to be modified!!!!
I've got a white DC and with a black line-x spray in liner. It looks awesome. I love it. I'll try to get some pictures up at some point today, unless somebody beats me to it.
I went with the black color. I did have them spray the metal strap hooks in the bed, some opted to leave em white. Have them remove the bolts and tailgate panel before spraying. Here's a pic of mine:

What are all those shiny white things on the floor of your bed and tailgate?
Impelled,
Did they actually remove the bolts from the bottom of the bed and shoot it?? Or did they just cover the bolt heads? Was that your idea or theirs? And why did you decide to do that?
My Toyota dealer was really pushing the bed liner. But my last truck had one and it rubbed thru the paint and the plastic was super slippery when it got wet or oily. I do alot of motor and trans work on the side so the bed of the truck gets mucked up alot. Is it easy to clean?
Thanks
Frank T

What are these "Bed Bolts" you speak of? Are they like Bed Bugs?
But seriously folks, is it really so hard to figure out a way to mount a bed without having exposed bed bolts in the bed? Not a huge issue I realize, but such a simple one to fix. GM hasn't had exposed bed bolts for 20 years now.
O MY Impelled!!!!! How are you going to live with yourself having exposed BED BOLTS!!!! run hide!!!!
I've had Toyota Trucks and Tacomas since 1989 and have had 2 Tundras that have had exposed Bed Bolts and there has never been a problem. I've hauled gravel, mulch, blocks, dirt, ect and they have never been in the way. SO what's the BIG DEAL Vmax??? Are you jealous that you don't see yours or just feel you need to gripe and show yourself???
Frank T- Yes, they remove the bolts completely use golf tees to plug the holes and shoot the bed with the Line-X material. It cools almost immediately and they put it all back together.
Vmax- You blind bro? Those bolts are silver, not white. Now the other truck has all kinds of white stuff in his bed. As far as the design and engineering on the bed bolts- I don't give a crap as long as the truck lasts and fills the purpose.
Sidenote: I've always wondered about GM engineering also. I became a cop in 1980 and any street kid could steal a GM car with a flat-tip screwdriver by cracking (peeling) the steering column. They (GM) didn't do anything about it for over 20 years! Recently the most expensive and stolen GM cars started to get the "smart chip" imbedded in the ignition keys as standard. I've always felt they didn't give a shit about the owners who had to pay for the repairs- at least it kept the service dept working! I've had enough IROC Z's and Trans Am's.....I'll stay with Toyota. I won't try and sell you a Toyota- Dance with the one you brung

So if you had to remove your bed or tighten bolts, I guess you'd rather crawl underneath the truck to take off or put on bolts.
Thanks for the input Impelled. Ill make sure they take the bolts out when I get it done.
As for the exposed bolts I dont really have an issue as long as they are not in the way when I am shoveling dirt or mulch out of the bed. If they bother me that much Ill just paint them.

Painting them will get them out of the way?

Yeah, cuz I remove my bed SO OFTEN!!! Never had to tighten a bolt on any of my trucks for the past 20 years.

Did I say it was a BIG DEAL??? No, I said just the opposite, it's not a big deal, but I am just curious why such a simple thing is overlooked.
I also had Line-X sprayed in my 2008 Tundra a few months ago. Looks terrific. They removed all the bolts in the bed and tailgate and removed my 5th wheel hitch as well. It's included in the price and I liked the way it looked, as the bed looked more original. However, I opted for color matching. They matched the color to the inside of our truck, Sand Beige. I've had black before and it looks to dark on a white truck to me as my cargo box is black and my 5th wheel hitch is black. Enough already. Beige looked really good. Good luck choosing.
