Dealer made me happy

So, as I posted before, I bought my new tundra and drove it home and had the rumble strip, I took it to the dealer in my town which was not the dealer I bought from and they played dumb, I called the 1 800 toyota number and talked to a lady and told her the problem, 2 days later the dumb toyota dealer in my town called me back and said that toyota just recalled the part and they will fix it so take it back to the store were you bought it, it was only 50 km away so no biggy, I talked to the parts manager and he was great, they took my truck for 2 days and gave me a brand new 2008 toyota 4 runner limited with 1000kms on it to drive around for 2 days until it was fixed, they brought my truck back to me in my town all shined and polished up and it runs perfect now, So I know how much flack the dealers always take for being ruthless so I figured I would post a good thing about a dealer on here,

^^Read this:
http://www.autoblog.com/tag/toyota%20tundra%20tailgate/

I don't have this issue, in fact my 07 works perfectly.

OP: Glad to hear they took care of you eventually. I don't like the fact that the dealer plays dumb when you have an issue, Toyota needs to work on customer relations. My wife has to bring her 4Runner back again to the dealer for an oil change. The dealer was supposed to do it last weekend they reset the maintenance light, but did not change the oil (I marked the filter)....

Dana Ha! I thought I was the only one to mark a filter! Got used to doing it w/ a Trans Am. A little swipe of whiteout on the filter just before driving it in....and I caught em!! Never had a problem though w/ Toyota, Harley or Yamaha boat service....but I still check em. F'n GM has made me suspicious of all of em!

i know a tech a while back saw this mark on a customers car so he did the same mark on the new one.. he hanged on to the old one.. customer comes back next day and started going off on the service writer.. anyways.. the writer got the tech and he showed him the old one. he said that i marked the new one since it looked important . after that the customer got all his work done at that dealership.. not sure if this was the case with you guys.. but if i see a toyota filter with marks on it.. i will do the same on the new one just so i can get a few laughs lol

My wife has a 2006 4 runner lmt and I had to take it into toyota a while back, it was still under warranty, there was a ticking noise when you started the fan for heat, So they said it was ready and I went to pick it up, they hit me with a 200 bill and said there was a mouse that had made its way into the air filter and had died in there, it was his tail that was hitting the fan when it started, I called BS so I made them show me the dead mouse, sure enough the mechanic pulled out a dead mouse from the garbage can, I still have my doubts but what more can a guy ask for,
I paid the bill and left with my tail between my legs, at least it wasnt hitting the fan,

The worst part was the tech reset the Maintenance light ad told the saleswoman the oil was changed! I marked the oil filter anyways (it was a non toyota filter) but the mechanic (or owner) who did it last put a date on it

Yes the ticking did stop or I would not have paid the bill, still makes me wonder how a mouse can work its way into the air filter and die in there, I recently talked to the guy on the forum that is offering the extended warraanty on these trucks and I am going to purchase it, it is a great deal from what I would have to pay here locally and theres no better feeling than dropping your truck off knowing your gettting keys back with it fixed for free, I think the service workers at the toyota dealers get bonuses for pissing people off because there sure good at it,
Almost like a insurance company, there always trying to swindle there way out of paying for something when people need it the most,
" OH SIR DIDNT YOU READ THAT LITTLE ITTY BITTY PRINT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE SAYING THAT WERE TAKING YOUR MONEY BUT YOULL HAVE TO FIGHT US TO GET THE COVERAGE YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD",
Man I hate having to deal with crooked people who can look you in the eye with a smile on there face and be out right lieing to you the hole time

warranties only cover factory defects not because of where you leave or where u might have gone and picked up a hitch hiker.. and its not hard for rats to get into cars.. might wanna check ur cabin air filter if u start getting a funky smell

My wife called me couple days ago and said that PS light came on. So I immidiately took car to dealer (under warranty). They called me couple hours later and told me about some mouse getting inside and chilling on the worm parts. I was really surprised and pissed, because first of all it sounded like biggest bs i've heard and then there is no mice in my area (I know about rats) but mice...
Then my customer (Construction) have told me that he just dropped $800 to the same dealer for couple wires that mice cut. Now since he doesn't , he has mice traps all over his yard .

Actually it's very common. A few guys at work have mice eating wires problems. My boss has a newer Mustang that he keeps garaged, covered, seldom drives. Guess what.....mice love those Ford wires
