which tonneau cover would you choose?

Hi, I'm looking to put a cover on my Tundra but don't know where to start or what to look for. What I do know is that I need something easily removable at the same time durable. I'm in Wisconsin and the cover needs to be able to hold the sometimes foot of snow that might fall over night. I also bowhunt so I need to be able to remove the cover in the shortest time possible to make room for my gear.

I need a quality suggestion and price I can expect to pay for it.

Thanks

Undercover if you are looking for a hard, Truxedo Low Pro if you are looking for a soft roll up. I used to sell truck accessories as one of my last jobs, and these are by far the best quality units out there. The undercover is made of ABS plastic, and can support 1000 lbs (we had a customer that did survey work and used to park his ATV on TOP of it as he went bombing through the bush). It even comes with garage hangers to hang it up after you take it off. It has quick release gas props and hinges, and weighs about 50 lbs. It only comes in black though. I just installed a Truxedo LP, and this is the second one that I have had, and love it. It stretches tight over the box, will support 300 lbs of weight, and is nearly indestructible. It rolls up nicely and straps to the front of the box. I'll try to get pics of it up soon. It comes in black as well. You can also get adapters so that you can still use the rail tie down system if your truck is so equipped. Both are extremely weather tight, and neither require drilling of any sort. Good luck!!

I got the Pace Edwards full metal "Jackrabbit" cover. It ain't cheap, but it's handy as hell and looks great. You can see it @ www.pace-edwards.com

What is the quality like on the Pace Edwards stuff? They do look pricey but I don't mind paying for quality stuff. Is it a weather tight setup?

It looks great and is strong and easy to operate. But...it is not water tight. I does leak a bit where the seal meets the tail gate. However, you can reduce this by adding another stick-on weather seal probably available where you have it installed. All-in-all, the convenience and security of the Pace Edwards overcomes the slight leak problem. It really is handy when loading tall objects. I am very satisfied with it.

I have never had to warranty so many parts as I did for Pace Edwards products. Roll-N-Lock, in my opinion, has much better quality components, construction, and engineering. We had so may issues with Pace Edwards that we stopped stocking them, and were available as special order only. The problem with any roll up tonneau cover is that there is a lot of maintenance involved with having one. Cleaning, lubricating, making sure the drain tubes aren't blocked, etc etc. Zman8537 and virg, I'm glad you've had good luck with yours, and I'm not trying to step on toes...just passing on experience (sold/installed approx 300-500 on all different makes and models).

The other problem with a roll up tonneau cover, is that it also takes up about 6 or 7 inches on the front of the bed...that to me is a large amount of space to take up.

I have an 07 tundra and have just installed a Leer 700 series hard (fiberglass) cover. You did'nt specify if you wanted a soft or hard cover, but I have removed mine and it is easy to do. I looked at many brands and the Leer was the nicest in my opinion. Just thought I would put in my plug for them. I live in Canada so I don't know how the price will compare elsewhere, but I paid about $1300.

i had a roll-n-lock in my silverado and was going to put one on my tundra, but searching for a deal online i came across this cover http://www.peragon.com/ which is similar and appears to be very easy to remove. it seems pretty reasonably priced including free shipping. you might want to check it out. i'm interested in it. if anyone has any experience with it some feedback would be nice.

The Peragon bed cover requires drilling two holes in the bed for installation. If you are interested in a No-Drill cover, the Peragon is NOT the one to choose.

I'm also thinking about going fiberglass only because I want to put a Thule or Yakima rack on the cover for bikes or a basket. If I wasn't going with the rack I would buy the Undercover. Had one on my Chevy and loved it. This is what I'm thinking of doing with the fiberglass cover, any opinions?

(pics borrowed from Tacodude) He says he can still raise up the lid with bikes attached.
