What kind of Load ramps do you use?

I need to get a pair of load ramps for putting my riding mower in my Tundra Bed. I made a set of ramps out of some 2x4s and plywood and used them for years on my C10. But these ramps dont work because the bed is higher on my 08 Tundra, so I need to bite the bullet and get a set.

Most of the ones I see are for ATV's w/ big tires, so the rungs on the ramps are far apart. I have a feeling my front wheels on my mower will get stuck. So I am thinking the ramp will need to be flat.

I hope someone out there has a similar issue and came up with a solution. Please post pics or links to were you got your ramps.

Thanks in advance

Frank T

I went the cheap route and got some decent 2x12 planks and put aluminum ends on, like these ones:

I got them much cheaper than that on EBay. It works great for my snowblower and the 12 inch wide plank makes them safer so its harder to drive off the edges!

Hey Dana, Thanks for the response.

I never used the ends you posted but they look like a good idea. Im not sure if I want to attach them to the tail gate since the Tundra's is weak. I may just take the tail gate off and rest the end of the ramp on the bumper, like I used to do on my C10.

My wood ramps are 8ft long, Im thinking the new ramps need to be 10 or 12ft long. How long are your 2x12 ramps?

Thanks in advance
Frank

6 Feet long to the tip. Works great for the snowblower and heavy items are pretty easy to slide on them (I'm getting old, got to save the back, lol) You got a point about the weak tailgate, I haven't used them yet on my 07......

Looking back I should have made the 2X12's longer but I wanted to have the ramps fit inside the bed. I could always buy longer 2X12's though.

I went with the "Rampmaster" They were expensive but they are rated 1500# each.
I went for the good stuff because I didn't want to drop my $15000 road bike on my $35000 truck because cheap ramps. They are all Aluminum, very sturdy, fold in half in the middle about 8' when open and they have a curve on the top half to prevent high center. I can drive my "walk behind" mower on no problem with the little 10" or so tires. They are a little bulky.
Work great for ATV, lawn tractor, ect. There is another ramp out there that doubles as a bed extender. May want to look in to that one. Don't recall the name.
