Tire pressure Monitor TPMS

I am thinking about getting some after market wheels for my truck but was wondering how that will effect the TPMS (tire pressure monitor system). If I decide not to buy new sensors for the aftermarket wheels are there any issues??

Thanks
Frank T

no issues. just get a blinking tire lighter.. not sure if it will go solid after a while.. might just take the bulb out for it.. .. not sure if the tire shop will let you since its the law in 08 to have them on all 08 models..

What's the problem? Can't you just transfer the present senders in your wheels to the new ones?

Im not sure how to put the sensors in the new tires. From the ones I have seen the tire needs to be dismounted from the wheel.

Either way I want to keep the steel rims for the winter and the new ones for the summer. Unless I buy new sensors, one set of wheels will be sensor-less.

Black tape over the light. You will need to remember to check tire pressures once in a while. This "nanny" device was due to the Ford Exploder Firestone tire fiasco.

The sensors have indiviual id codes that are programmed into the TPMS ecu, if you ran two sets you would have to reprogram the truck every time you swaped your two sets of wheels. If your stock wheels are the styled steel wheels the sensors will be less likely compatible with after market rimes. Factory aluminum rims and the basic steel wheels use a different angle of sensor that will go into A/M wheels.
