Rumble Strip?

When I was first considering the 08 Tundra I read something about the rumble strip, a problem with the torque converter. Yesterday when I drove my new truck, 08 Tundra, 5.7 4 wd, crew cab, I stepped on the gas and felt something strange as it shifted. I thought I had run over something. It only happens when rolling at about 45 mph and you gas it. Could this be the dreaded rumble strip? I put the words in the search and didn't come up with anything. I thought the problem had been corrected in the 08.

Yes it could definatley be the rumble strip, as you drive your truck more you will notice it more, it usually happens when the truck is running at low rpms and then you have to gas it a bit to go up a hill or speed up and then its honestly like driving over rumble strips on the highway, the exact same feel sound vibration everything, you cant miss it.

Yeah, It feels like you ust ran over a small rumble strip. What do I do about it? Is it an easy fix? Is this an all day deal getting it fixed?

Then you definatley have the problem, its a new torque converter and it will take toyota about 8 hrs to do the job, that how long it took them on mine, they were really good to me, supplied me with a brand new toyota 4 runner to drivfe while they worked on it, but I am really good firends witht he general manager so I guess that helps,

Yep bet ya bottom dollar its the dreaded torque converter problem. Simple fix new torque converter. Had it on my 08.

I have an 08 crewmax. Almost immediately, I noticed a slight vibration. At first, I attributed it to bad Louisiana roads. I quickly realized a pattern: it usually occured after taking off from a stopped position; it usually occured when I was accelerating conservatively; it usually occured around 30-35 miles/hour. When I brought it in for service, the mechanic had a difficult time duplicating the "rumble" so I had to drive it for them in order to point it out. He was unaware of this type of problem prior to my truck. After all is said and done, I have a new torque converter on order. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

It will what you described was exactly what mine did and since the torque converter change no problems
