DIY : 08 Tundra painting brake caliper

Ok... I just completed this today.

First off, this is how the car looked before.

The first step we did was jack up the front of the car one by one.

Before doing so, we loosened the lugnuts.

This is the jacking point where we jacked up the car and set up the jacks in the front for the front right tire. We left it supported with two jacks just in case for a sturdier support.

The next step after that was we took off the tire and cleaned off the brake caliper with some brake cleaner that came with the brake caliper kit we bought.

Afterwards, we paitned the brake caliper with paint brushes so we have control of where we want the paint to go. The color we went with was red.

After that, we jacked up the other side vice versa and sprayed that side too.

The next step for us was to jack up the rear end of the car and set it on jacks.

These are the jack points that we used

Afterwards, we cleaned off the brake calipers and then painted them also.

This is the end results of all the calipers painted.
After that , we just put the wheels back on and voila! Job finished.

Looks good! Did you use clear coat?

Now it's time for some aftermarket wheels to allow the brakes to be seen!

Nice write-up. Now let's see a finished picture with the wheels back on.

I've always wondered how the "paint on" kits would turn out. I was always worried about brush marks and always sprayed mine. Spraying was more of a pain, though, as I had to tape off the wheel well, take off the caliper, etc, to do it right.

Nice job

thanks a lot! i'll be sure to get a pic up of the wheels on soon enough also. too dark right now aha.

But man..those paint on caliper kits work like a charm! brush marks are nothing to worry about =]

And no..it wasn't a random parking lot. It would sure be funny if it were though eh? =p
