heavy towing

i am looking at an '08 tundra as a tow vehicle for my boat and trailer, combined weight is about 8,000#. do you folks think this is going to work ok?? the option is to go to a 3/4 ton P/U but i really don't tow that frequently.

any actual experience reports are appreciated. thanks, i have search the archive but nothing in this weight class.

There have been several posts about this. If you do a search, you'll turn up the info you're looking for. Cliff's notes: Tundras are great at towing.

Sorry to send you on a wild goose chase. I thought for sure there'd been posts on this forum.

As much as I hate to recommend this, http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/tundra/ is a bigger site and I know for sure I've read of people's accounts pulling big loads with our trucks on that board (one guy had to move 20K pounds worth of something a few blocks down the road, and the truck had no problems pulling it).

I tow 9k plus 6-10 times a year and have been very happy. I use sway control and weight distribution. I used to tow with an F250 Super Duty diesel and although the diesel had more torque, I have been happy.

I do have headers, cai, and a catback.

USA

We tow a 30 foot camper which is anywhere from 6500 + depending on how much we pack and it tows awesome. We use a weight distribution hitch with sway control and have a Prodigy Brake Controller. Adjust the weight up where it's level and it rides and drives great. I don't think you'll have a problem. There are people that have added the air bags to help out with the suspension also, so that's a thought to keep in mind. What size and kind of boat are you towing that weights 8000lbs???
