I live in northern Wisconsin and want (need) to disconnect my Anti-lock brakes before I crash. I have a 07' Tundra and have found the following thread for 05' Tacoma's Traction Control (ATRAC hack) writeup!
Does any one have this type of information for my 07' Tundra and wife's 06' Camary? I would love to add a toggle type switch to the dash to turn on/off the ABS. I've been told these exist in some Honda's.
I don't know, but I've heard of people with newer Tacomas pulling the ABS fuse when they needed to have the ABS off. I don't know if that would put the truck in "limp" mode or anything like that. Hopefully you can find a definitive answer.
Here is more information form Tacogranda. Hope this thelps others and I'll post how it went for me.
Hey Steve, the good news is it's easy to disable ABS on any vehicle, the bad news is the writeup only pertains to toyota vehicles that have VSC and TRAC, like the Tacoma and maybe the tundy. The easiest way to do it is to run the signal from a wheel speed sensor (any one will do) through a switch in the cab. When you "open" the circuit (flip the switch OFF) the computer thinks that a wheel speed sensor is bad and as a safety precaution shuts down the abs computer, along with all that other computer crap like VSC and TRAC if the vehicle is equiped with it. I don't think you'll find a shop willing to do the modification due to liability reasons, but who knows. Anyone that can wire in a car stereo can do this, just cut the wire about 6" away from the wheel speed sensor, and splice a wire to each end of the cut and run those wires into a cab through a simple two pole switch (radio shack has you covered). When the switch is on, so is abs, when the switch is off, abs is off.
Too easy right? Make sure you use shrink wrap on all the connections so they last and use a good quality wire. 16 Gauge ought to do it. Good luck Steve, and be safe. Since I wrote the article I have since permanently disabled everything on my truck just by unplugging a wheel speed sensor, that's the easiest way just to get you through winter, simply plug it back in when the roads clear up-

Wow, that sounds pretty dang simple. Also sounds like a nice way to disable TRAC and VSC in a hurry. I could sure live without TC, but having ABS is a must for me. Let us know how this works for you!
Sounds like a good mod for folks in snow allot. Though I have only heard my ABS kick in when im doing to intentionally.
When doing this mod I would use solder and shrink wrap. I would not crimp the wires.

HOLD ON GUYS ! ! ! . I tried it today and it's a no-go. I loose my 4-wheel drive. The following lights FLASH on the dash "VSC", 4-HI, 2-HI and the red ABS light stays solid red. The anti-lock brakes do go away. Is there any "fuse(s)" that can be unplugged like some others have spoke of? Or is there a plug connection under the hood like on my 99' Tahoe that I can disconnect? That worked great, just the ABS light came on is the dash.

You should have an ABS fuse. I'm not with my truck, otherwise I'd check.
It works !!!!!
I finally found the time to try pulling fuse(s).
In the last few pages of the manual see the diagrams. There are (2) ABS fuses. #68 (red 50 amp) and #69 (green 40 amp)
I first pulled both and the same thing happened as when I disconnected the rear speed indicator. Lost the 4-wheel drive and the ABS brakes.
Then I did one fuse at a time and found that if you ONLY REMOVE #68 THE RED 50 AMP FUSE. The ABS brakes and the VSC get disconnected. The only draw back is that the VSC light flashes on the dash.
The red ABS and BRAKE lights also stay on but don't flash and the 4-wheel drive functions normally. When winter is over I can just plug the fuse back in. (or maybe not) The VSC was a pain as it was. It's going to feel good to have solid control of both power and brakes.
