For the last week I have had an intermittent problem: The radio is regularly tuned to
680 AM and is on preset 1. It will inexplicably drop to 670 on its own and stay there until I hit the preset. After a short time it will go to 690 and stay there until the preset is pushed. Then it seems to settle down and behave normally. If I take it in to the dealer it probably won't misbehave so that the problem can be demonstrated them.

So the question is: Has anybody else experienced this problem?

There is a known problem with the radio turning off on its own. There's a TSB for it, so if you go to your dealer they should be able to replace the radio under warranty. I'm not sure of the TSB #, but if you do a little searching you should be able to find it pretty easily.
