Vibration at 47 to 53 mph!

2007 Toyota tundra D-cab 5.7 TRD, stock.

I can not find where anyone else has had this issue of a vibration at 47 to 53 mph.

The vibration does not seem to fall into the transmission rumble strip issue and I have already had the transfer case, front and rear diffs changed.

I also had everything lubed in the drive line that could be.

I still have the vibration. The vibration rolls in and out. I purchased new tires before the diffs or t-case were changed. None of this has helped. I have balanced and rotated tires which are wearing fine. I had the brakes checked and they are fine.

The vibration is not severe, yet you feel it in the shifter and the gas pedal. I am very annoyed with this vibration at this point.

What might it be??

The dealer can feel the vibration. I think they are going to get tired of seeing me! (this is my first Toyota, I was a GM owner before. Other than this vibration, the truck is great and I would buy another one.

Sounds like the tranny to me, there isn't much left.


What was wrong with your T case and rear diff? My truck just ate its second front diff and they could not give me an answer why?

Have you noticed any correlation to engine RPM?

When the dealer checked my truck over the first time, they said that they had another persons truck in with the same issue and that they had just changed out the front diff in the other truck and that did not cure it.There fore they followed another crumb trail and decided it was my t-case. I was not having any difficulty with the t-case.

When that did not fix it, they had to call in the "Toyota Specialist" He said that after examining the diff fluids, there were too many metal filings in the rear diff fluid so they were going to change it.

When that did not fix it, they then said that there were too many filings in the front diff oil and that they were going to change that.

I thought that the vibration was not quite as bad when I picked up the truck, but the more I drive it the more the vibration seems to be increasing.

On the way to work this morning (about 140 miles) I played around in the 50 mph range and watched the rpm's. I could not tie one certain RPM range to the vibration.

I have convinced myself that it is either a flutter in the transmission or a bad bearing. I think of the bearing issue because I have changed many trailer bearings and I am used to rolling the old bearings and feeling a dry spot in the bearing with a little rumble and then a smooth spot and then rolling back into the dry/rumble spot again..

I used the Sport shift and in 5th gear at about 50, I got the vibration and then at 60 I get a wu wu wu wu.

I can feel a very minor rumble in the drive line most of the time, but it is very faint and if you did not drive this truck all of the time, you would not even notice the slight rumble.

U-joints? Someone flipped a driveshaft 180 out? Driveshafts rebalanced?
