The write up for a 5.7L oil change is excellent. I might add a couple tips that helped me.
1. I could not get sufficient grip with the 65mm autozone wrench, and I tried both the metal and the carbon fiber ones. They kept slipping and I couldnt get the cannister off.
2. Went to my Toyota dealer, and they sold me the factory cannister wrench PN 09228-06500-02. Not cheap.
3. It worked great. Took my micrometer and measured 63mm inside diameter-Hmmmm,no wonder.
4. Lastly, being a fairly easy to frustrate person, when I had the metal splash shield totally off, I measured carefully and put a 4 1/4 inch access hole directly until the oil filter. I then took some small black heater hose and cut it to fit around the hole, and sealed it with black silicon seal. Looks nice, and no more fooling around with the pan.
Great site here, thanks for all the Tundra information!
Thanks for the tips! I'm sure they will be helpful for some members looking to do their first oil change.
I still prefer to completely remove the oil pan, asI've found it comes off pretty easily on subsequent attempts. Plus it gives me a chance to check everything over for leaks while I'm underneath the engine.
I'm looking forward to my next oil change, as I installed a Fumoto on the last change. Unfortunately I made the mistake of not getting one with the nipple attachment for a hose, so I'll still have to use a catch pan and then pour into some bottles. Anyone looking to install one of these, be sure you get one with the nipple!
I still have yet to do my own oil change on the tundra. I dont have the wrench to remove the canister as well. this is my main cause for not doing my change.

Sorry, newbie here with my 2007 Tundra I recently purchased. Anyway not sure I'm understanding how you put a "4 1/4 inch access hole directly until the oil filter" ? Did you drill a hole here? Is this to drain the excess oil from the oil filter before you remove the filter? Also, is this "black heater hose" you used is it permanently attached? If so, is there a valve? Sorry I'm not understanding this.
