2010 Tundra & BlackBerry BT

Hello,

I am a employee of Toyota and I am having an issue with the 2010 Tundra and the audio system without navigation.

We are trying to pair a Verizon Wireless Blackberry 9630 [Tour]. It is running version 4.7.1.40 of the BB OS.

When we pair the phone it begins to stream to the audio system, which locks the software in the audio system. We have tried several different settings in the BlackBerry and cannot get it to pair correctly. The screen of the audio system just says "Connected: Talking.....". It disables the radio and other functions as if a call was in progress.

Has anyone on Toyota Nation experienced issues with their BlackBerry and the Tundra audio system? We think this might be limited to the new head unit in the 2010, but please let me know otherwise.

Thanks.

I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 and I was able to pair both the phone and the blue tooth audio with no problems.

In the manual it says you can pair both the phone and the blue tooth audio at the same time but I did mine separately.

The headunit actually detected the model of my phone (shows 8330 Blackberry on the display) and it completed successfully. I can control the bluetooth audio from my steering wheel controls even. Skip songs etc.

One thing I can tell you is that not all devices are 100% compatible with blue tooth head units. I had an Alpine Deck with Blue tooth module in my previous car and the first phone I had would not allow database transfer and some other functions. When I changed to the Blackberry I had more options avaiable including DB transfer.
The manual for my Alpine Bluetooth actually included a list of phones and their compatibility levels.

That said, the basic functionality of Bluetooth should be available with any phone. You should be able to place and receive calls. Have you talked to Toyota to see if they have a compatibility list? I'm pretty sure nothing is listed in the module.

Tour and Tundra

I have a Blackberry tour and an 08 Tundra w/ Nav. When I first tried to pair, I got exactly what you are talking about. I did a battery pull on the tour and it connected fine. I am not sure if I had the Tundra find the phone or the phone find the truck but you can try it both ways. You may also want to check out the forums on www.crackberry.com to see if there is any solution there.

After you get the thing connected correctly, your callers will hardly be able to hear you. At times you will sound fine and other times you will sound like you are yelling across a football field. It has something to do with the tour b/c my pearl worked fine and my wifes phone works great too. The is a work around until blackberry can make a decent phone. You need to turn up the outgoing volume in the truck. Here is how to do it. NEW TSB - How to Adjust Bluetooth Mic Volume or
the latter shows how to access your service menu. Then one of the selections is Tel voice.
