Cool Any Tundra plowers out there?

Hey all! Just thought I'd share some pics of my dads truck I recently put a plow on. It's a BOSS Power V-XT (8'2" model) I recently purchased for our Lawn Care business. So far I have nothing but good things to say about this setup, BOSS makes a very sturdy product. It's seen two good snows and has been awesome to work with. Hope to have some action shots soon . Here's some pics, taken about a month ago.

Plow control.

Here's a link to the BOSS website for plow specs. http://www.bossplow.com/products/powervxt

I also picked up a BOSS TGS 1100 Salter. Boy can that thing throw some salt. Link for salter specs. http://www.bossplow.com/products/spreaders

Salter control box.

The only thing we really had to do to the truck to carry the plow was add leveling kit to the front end. It helps the plow to not scrap the ground in cornering. We also added some airbags to the rear for increased payload. No more riding the bump stops with a skid of salt.

Any questions feel free to ask, and I'll do my best to answer.

Jared

Nice set up you have.

I just got rid of my 04 Silverado HD with Fisher 8’ HD plow. Two weeks ago I purchased a 10 Tundra double cab 381HP for a DD. Put a 7’6’’ fisher on it. Only had a couple small storms to try out plow, but looks like tomorrow night we are going to get 8+ That will be the test.

I do not plow commercial, but have a ¼ mile gravel driveway that goes aggressively uphill with 2 90 degree turns on it. I also have a 35x90 paved parking area to do. For sprinkling sand I use a Suzuki 500 ATV that holds 4 sheetrock buckets of sand which I apply with a scoop. That takes about a ½ hr to do. Too cheap to get the nice rear spreader you have.
My new truck has a few electronics that have to be shutoff to do plowing. The dealer gave me some advice, but I have a feeling it will be a trial by error learning experience

Just be sure to watch your engine and transmission temp gauges when plowing (and when driving with the plow raised!). I would hate to see someone fry a motor or tranny.

Thanks thats good advice. My last truck (04 Chevy) did have a tendency to overheat while traveling on the road so I do watch my gauges close.

I think all will be well. I drove the truck home from the dealers (30 miles) with plow up high at about 35 degrees & both cooler gauges were in safe zone.

Very good advice! I had a co-worker years ago that fried the tranny on one of my old boss's GMC Sierras. That was a bad day for sure. So far the Gauges on the Tundra haven't budged, doesn't mean I wont be checking them often .

That was a concern I had, but lucky for me my local Boss dealer is also my Toyota dealer. So as long as the truck is under warranty I have it in writing that they will take care of any issues caused by the plow, including ball joints.

No reputable Boss dealer would put that plow on a Tundra. It is way too heavy and violates the Boss application charts. (The only approved plow is the Sport Duty). A dealer installing that plow is legally liable in court if there is an accident.

Also, if your front axle is overloaded, Toyota will not warrant the truck. If the dealer submits a claim, that is fraud.

I hear what your saying, but my dealer has installed this very plow on 30+ trucks this season and would not do so if there was any danger to the operator or others on the road. Also, I doubt Toyota would allow them to sell and install plows out of their building if they had an issue with it. If you'd like their number I'd be glad to give it. I'm good friends with the truck manager, and I know he would enjoy speaking with you.

Thanks lotust! I just wish I could get some action shots of this thing! But whe she's workin' I'm a little busy!

The plow weighs 785lbs. by the way. but with the way the truck handles it you couldn't tell.
